About the Innovation Lab

The FAB Innovation Lab will focus on designing customer-facing solutions to meet the unique and rapidly changing needs of the Bank. Through the right mix of creativity, technology and expertise the new Lab will enable FAB teams to solve business challenges in an accelerated fashion by working collaboratively.

About the Role
The Service Designer will define and manage opportunities that can be solved by service design and design thinking across the bank.
The ideal candidate will have experience applying design processes while working collaboratively with customers and cross-functional teams.
The Service Designer will maintain effective relationships with a large number of internal stakeholders and manage projects from problem definition through to solution concepting, validation and incubation.
This candidate will have an entrepreneurial spirit and the knowledge to continue to add and contribute to the team's approach to solving customer problems through the right mix of people, process and technology.
Key Accountabilities:
Problem Definition
- Engage teams and business units to uncover opportunities and ideas to innovate in the lab
- Unpack and interpret the entire ecosystem of a product, service or system
- Manage the development of the problem statement that will be added to the innovation backlog
- Manage the backlog of ideas and qualified projects
Service Design
- Manage design thinking / co-creation programmes in the lab. Working hands-on with internal teams and external consultants
- Ensure each project deliverable is of the highest quality.
- Collaborate with designers, technologists and fintechs to map and visualize ideas across a variety of platforms, developing comprehensive journey maps, service blueprints, and iterative physical and digital prototypes.
Incubation
- Play a key role in incubating a Service Design project as an MVP to further validate and define the opportunity with real customers
- The ability to work collaboratively in an agile delivery team
- Report and present progress on incubation projects to the innovation governance team
Leadership
- Report and present progress through Research, Blueprinting, Ideation, Prototyping & Testing to senior stakeholders
- The ability to enable and empower teams to innovate and co-create. Supporting the ownership and culture of innovation in the Group.
- Understand and educate on design - create the right conditions for projects and teams to succeed
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly and effectively present concepts and justify decisions.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 - 5 years of service design experience
- Ability to demonstrate and articulate the use of Service Design / Design Thinking to solve problems
- Knowledge of and curiosity about technology and its impact on design solutions.
- Excellent leadership skills, problem resolution abilities, and good judgment
- Planning and analytical skills are essential
- Strong command of English language both verbal and written a must, with Arabic a plus
- Demonstrates flexibility when addressing shifting or competing priorities.
- Excellent presentation skills
- Basic project management skills are a must to ensure all stakeholders are managed, projects are delivered on time and on budget
