KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Generic Accountability

The Senior Engineer in the IT Continuity Team, reports to the Service Owner, IT Continuity Management. The role will be responsible for liaising with Technology and Support teams in UAE and the overseas locations to manage the Bank’s overall IT Service Continuity & Disaster Recovery Program & Continuity posture.

JOB CONTEXT:

Specific Accountability

  • Work with IT Teams to help maintain IT Service Continuity / IT Disaster Recovery Program & process, documentation, templates, and reports that is compliant with the requirements of the Bank's Business Continuity Management process as well as all the financial regulators and Central Bank in the region and overseas locations.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with IT Teams and internal stakeholders to produce, maintain, and test service continuity plans & procedures for all IT Systems, applications & Infrastructure components hosted in data centers in the region and overseas locations.
  • Ensure that the IT Disaster Recovery Plans for all IT Systems, applications & Infrastructure components are duly reviewed and approved by all the stakeholders from technical and management side.
  • Participate in the Disaster Recovery Exercises for IT systems & components hosted in Bank’s Data Center as well as at overseas locations by defining and documenting clear scope & scenario, planning & executing the tests as per schedules and producing a detailed Exercise Report capturing all the relevant details & outcome of the exercise along with identified areas of improvements.
  • Manage, communicate, and coordinate with Bank’s international regions on their respective DR exercises. Work with UAE’s Head Office technical resources and international IT teams to execute the test and produce a DR Exercise scope document, Exercise Report & capture all actions, issues, and areas of improvements from the tests.
  • Centrally document & manage all the gaps, areas of improvements, issues, and actions from the outcomes of DR tests.
  • Log proactive problem tickets and regularly drive and monitor the progress of DR test related gaps, issues, areas of improvement and actions until final closure.
  • Ensure all international regions update and regularly maintain a site level Disaster Recovery Plan document capturing recovery details in the event loss of full site or connectivity with Head Office Data Centers in UAE
  • Maintain and update the e-battle box (central repository for all IT DR Plan and procedure documents) and ensure there is a governance framework to ensure these documents are well catalogued and are up to date (reviewed and updated annually at least)
  • Manage the monthly / yearly Business Continuity Exercise for all Bank’s key locations in UAE.
  • Ensure coordination efforts with Group Business Continuity Management & Business Continuity Coordinators for readiness of all IT requirements for the BC exercises & also participate in the exercise and manage the IT incident handling by being available at the Recovery site along with required IT support teams!
  • Maintain a comprehensive IT testing schedule / DR Testing Calendar, including the testing of all continuity plans in line with business requirements and after every major business change.
  • Assessing changes in IT for their impact on IT Service Continuity and IT Continuity Plans.

 

Qualifications

  • 5-10 Years of Experience in Software Development Life Cycle or Service Management (e.g., Incident, Problem, Change, Configuration, Availability, IT Continuant Management)
  • Previous experience of working in an IT Service Continuity / IT Disaster Recovery role for minimum 3 years within a corporate environment (preferably Banks or Financial Institutions)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including collaboration and analytical.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management and stakeholder influencing skills are critical.
  • Strong understanding of Information Technology and able to call on SME expertise as required.
  • ITIL v4ITIL Intermediate certified
  • Awareness of Technology Governance, Risk and Compliance
