Job Description

The role will provide operational and administrative services for the Investment Management business within the Wealth & Private Banking segment of the Personal Banking Group. It will support and assist the Head of Middle Office for Investment Management in ensuring internal and external client deliverables are consistently met. Primary focus will be on trade flow management and control, onboarding of portfolios, funds, custodians and brokers and Fund financials coordination.

  • Perform a diverse range of middle office responsibilities with primary focus on trade flow management and control, onboarding of portfolios, funds, custodians and brokers and Fund financials coordination.
  • Responsible for onboarding clients as well as mutual fund structures (UCITS and regionally domiciled) to the Investment Management unit of FAB.
  • Reviewing client investment guidelines and fee schedules and open accounts on the trading system Bloomberg AIM by coding compliance rules and investment guidelines.
  • Liaise with the RMs to obtain necessary KYC and AML documentation from clients to open accounts with third parties such as brokers, custodians and clearing houses.
  • Completing and reviewing broker account documentations as well as setting up broker accounts in Blomberg AIM and liaising with legal for approvals.
  • Covering third party relationship including review and negotiating of SLA/ Engagement letters and billing.
  • Responsible for reconciliation & trade instruction for Bancassurance Funds.
  • Coordinating with respective teams to subscribe to IPOs and arrange payment.
  • Responsible for Dividend distribution from calculating dividends to obtaining necessary regulatory approvals.
  • Responsible for Calculating Zakat for the portfolios and reporting the collected dividends.
  • Coordinator of data for internal audit reviews for the Middle Office team as well as for external auditors for the completion of Fund Financial Statements.
  • Preparing broker allocation and ranking reports for the Broker Review Committee.
  • Working closely with multiple custodians to create NINs in MENA markets and setup of investor accounts internationally.
  • Manage daily compliance of portfolios to the guidelines set out in the IMA.
  • Investigate investment breaches to the limits and its P&L impact.
  • Carry out daily cash, position and total market valuation reconciliation, record cash flows and income and expense transactions.
  • Assist Portfolio Managers in cash management.
  • Liaise with custodians and fund accountants to accurately reflect all trading activity and investigate valuation discrepancies.
  • Co-ordinate with various departments within FAB and externally in relation to the portfolio management/fund management services (being brokerage firms, financial markets, dealing room, legal department and other support divisions within FAB).
  • Contribute to policy and procedure changes, ensuring regulatory compliance and changing business requirements are met.
  • Manage UCITS regulatory requirements, KIIDs, Central Bank and SCA regulatory requirements.
  • Perform the daily trade flow ensuring all transactions are confirmed with counterparties, that matching instructions are in place in the market and have been communicated to the custodians and other relevant parties.
  • Investigation of all unmatched trades, failed trades and any subsequent market claims, whilst escalating potential issues and trade fails to traders and fund managers.
  • The role also requires the implementation of process efficiencies and system enhancements as required by the Head of Middle office and fund management business.

 

Qualifications

Job knowledge, skills & experience:

  • 7+ years’ work experience within investment management, banking or other financial institution.
  • Minimum of 5+ years working within a trading/market operations environment within an investment management, banking or other financial institution
  • Sound knowledge of financial instruments including equities, fixed income, FX and derivatives.
  • Working knowledge of Bloomberg, Advent, Reuters, Zawya.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook skills.
  • Ability to work independently under tight deadlines and effectively manage multiple tasks

Academic/Professional Qualifications:

  • A degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field.
