Job Description

PURPOSE OF JOB:

To execute activities of Sanctions Alert Advisory Team including reviews and investigations on matters escalated from the business, Sanctions referrals received from Customer Screening and Transaction’s screening functions, Sanctions related regulatory reporting, regulatory submissions, or other ad hoc tasks within the remit of the FCC Sanctions Advisory Team.

JOB CONTEXT/DIMENSIONS

The AVP Sanctions Advisory must be able to build and maintain productive relationships with business , operations and management across the group and must have the ability to work cross-functionally across the regions to effectively deliver the role purpose.

TASKS

Support the VP Compliance - Sanctions Alert Advisory as follows:

  • Assist in the implementation of the Group Sanctions Programme across the Group.
  • Keep abreast of related rules, regulations and best practices pertaining to Sanctions through Notices that are received from the Sanctions authorities OFAC, UN, EU & HMT and local regulators.
  • Undertake Level 3 Transactions screening investigation and adjudication for International and Local transactions.
  • Undertake Level 3 adjudication for Customer screening referrals on the Fircosoft system.
  • Conducting detailed investigation on Sanctions triggers identified through Payments and Name Screening
  • Prepare and submit reports on investigation to management for regulatory authorities submissions as necessary
  • Provide Sanctions Advisory to international branches, in coordination with International Compliance Department, in consultation with the senior.
  • Support in execution and program management of financial crime related projects as per project guideline.
  • Conduct User Acceptance Testing and provide Sanctions SME support during Sanctions screening systems implementations/ enhancement.
  • Prepare and maintain daily/weekly/monthly MI reports and execute Sanctions Risk assessment activities
  • Execute other duties as directed by Head of Sanctions or Head of Compliance – Financial Crime Compliance.
  • Maintain and build an effective relationship with the related divisions so that effective escalation of issues is achieved, and risk managed.

AUTHORITIES

  • Ensuring Bank’s compliance with standards and regulations.
  • Other authorities as directed by the Head of Sanctions and Head of FCC.

Qualifications

JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Management, Banking or Finance, preferably with certification in compliance, AML, risk management or internal audit.
  • At least 3 years of experience preferably in Sanctions Compliance and/or Audit in Banks
  • Good understanding of regional laws and applicable international regulations including UN, OFAC , EU , UK Sanctions
  • Strong interpersonal, people management and facilitation skills
  • Team player, able to meet tight deadlines and manage challenging workload
  • Preferable bilingual, Fluent in English, and Arabic with strong written and verbal skills
  • Focused on driving tasks to completion with pace, whilst retaining a high level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Discrete and has sense for integrity and handles highly sensitive information with absolute confidentiality.
