Principal Enterprise Architect - Core Systems

The Core Systems group is responsible for FAB’s Core Banking, Middleware & Workflow, Reconciliation, Statement, Payment and CRM systems. Our service lines provide the core systems that enable and support our consumer (retail), corporate and investment banking businesses.

FAB Core Systems team is looking for a Principal Enterprise Architect that has experience and passion building modern core systems applications. As a Principal Enterprise Architect, you will be a technical leader and exemplary practitioner.

FAB Principal Enterprise Architects are hands-on and lead by example. They deliver artifacts that set the standard for engineering excellence, from designs to implementations. They remain close to the details. You will help establish technical standards and drive FAB’s overall technical architecture and engineering practices. You are expected to produce both detailed technical work and high-level architectural designs.

You will need exceptionally strong technical skills, strong business acumen, analytical skills, and be able to deal with ambiguity in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include:

• Define the technical strategy and architecture vision for FAB Core Systems (Core Banking, Middleware & Workflow, Reconciliation, Statement, Payment and CRM).
• Think big and build foundational / reusable solutions and services that will help lines of business to use these solutions, where applicable, instead of building their own.
• Assist in the career development of others, actively mentoring other members of FAB architecture and developer community on advanced technical issues.
• Exert technical influence over multiple teams, increasing their productivity and effectiveness by sharing your deep knowledge and experience.
• Lead or contribute to multiple simultaneous product development efforts and/or technology initiatives.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• Previous experience in a lead architecture / technical role within the Core Systems team of a financial services institution; preferably a multi-national financial services institution.
• Expertise in building or modernizing Core Banking, Middleware & Workflow, Reconciliation, Statement, Payment or CRM systems.
• Experience in building high-performance, highly available and scalable distributed systems, preferably running on public clouds such as AWS or Azure.
• Expert knowledge in reliability, performance, scalability, enterprise system architecture, and engineering best practices.
• At least 5 years leading large-scale software projects.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience with systems such as Temenos T24 (Temenos Transact), IBM DataPower Gateway, IBM Integration Bus (IIB), IBM WebSphere and Microsoft Dynamics 365.
• Experience with Kong API Gateway.
• Experience building and running containers on Kubernetes; preferably Amazon EKS.
• Experience with automated deployments using CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience driving large application and infrastructure platform migrations (and ideally application modernization) to AWS, Azure or GCP.
• AWS or Azure solutions architect certified.
