Job Description

JOB PURPOSE:

The purpose of the job is to:

1.      Primarily to act as the intermediary (Catalyst) between VAT and Finance / IT systems to ensuring smooth transition of data and information leading to production of calculating a VAT / GST return.

2.      To be the main co-ordinator / representative on projects implementing and upgrading finance / IT data systems.

3.      Review and assist with all Group VAT / GST periodic returns and all reporting and compliance.

4.      Deliver or manage assigned projects, completing BAU tasks, and all sensitivity analysis for VAT.

5.      Preparing VAT returns charts, templates, and calendars etc as required.

6.      Liaise with FAB International sites as required and co-ordinate all system and data VAT requirements.

7.      Automate and leverage technology to meet VAT / GST compliance and reporting needs.

Job Context

Specific Accountability

§  Prepare all VAT / GST governance documents as required under Group Governance and Tax Policies i.e. procedures manuals, SOPs etc.

§  Ensure representation on all Finance / IT systems projects concerning VAT / GST data requirements.

§  Identify all VAT / GST requirements in systems and automate as far as possible.

§  Review Finance / IT systems upgrades and changes for VAT / GST impact.

§   Follow up and monitor all documentation requirements and submissions from International sites.

§  Monitor timely responses to tax authority or tax audits enquiries and progress with relevant stakeholders.

§  Work with GIA to close out historic audit points raised and ensure minimisation of new audit points.

§  Keep up to date with relevant Tax technical developments.

§  Provide input and support on Tax provisioning and reporting.

§  Support local countries on any VAT / GST issues arising (e.g., tax office enquiries, tax return processes, advice around systems and data etc).

§  See end-to-end VAT preparation processes.

§  Represent VAT / GST on internal projects as and when required.

 

FRAMEWORKS, BOUNDARIES, & DECISION MAKING AUTHORITY:

§  Delegation of Authority for Taxation as required

§  Key support for tax information for Group Finance

§  Group Tax Policy adherence

§  Group Governance Policy for Taxation

§  Delegated authority on administration for Corporate Tax as well as Tax Transfer Pricing matters internally

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

Minimum Qualification

§  Relevant academic qualifications (Accounting/Tax preferred)

§  First or Second degree qualification

§  Professional Tax qualification.

 

Minimum Experience

§  5+ years of experience in banking industry and 3+ years’ experience in Indirect Tax (VAT/GST) compliance.

§  Experience of indirect tax processes and a good understanding of different technologies applied in a tax environment.

§  Experience of tax governance and audit management.

§  Good knowledge of IT systems and use of tax accounting system.

§  Work experience in a cross-functional and international environment.

§  Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

§  Attention to detail.

§  Quick learner and self-motivated.

§  Able to record issues and propose solutions.

§  Ability to handle pressure and tight timeframes.

§  Ability to work on project-based tasks in an unstructured environment.
