Job Description

The selected candidate will assist Group Head of International Risk to enable strong Risk governance in KSA branch by closely working with KSA team remotely.

As required by the Group Head of International Risk and / or Group Head of ERM, support the KSA risk management with comprehensive risk reporting framework (covering all areas of risk such as Credit, Operational, Fraud, Market, Liquidity risk, macro risks factors, risk mitigations plans, etc.) for assigned FAB franchises to maintain robust independent oversight and monitoring of all material risks.

The job holder will assist the KSA CRO and Head of International Risk for developing and implementing integrated risk management strategy, framework and control system to ensure that FAB franchise in KSA operates within an agreed risk appetite and complies with its internal policy and external regulatory obligations.

In doing this, he / she will work closely with the KSA branch and Group Risk Management units to ensure the Group methodologies, policies, procedures, and limit frameworks are established and fully functional at each FAB franchise.  Additionally, the potential candidate may be required to build, produce, and update the risk report suite to ensure consistency and compliance with the Bank’s risk tolerance.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Governance

  • In conjunction with, and as required by Group Head of International Risk, manage the comprehensive risk reporting framework, covering risk profile of FAB franchise in KSA region, macro risks factors, risk mitigations plans, etc. for monitoring and reporting at branch level and / or Group Risk Committee.
  • Provide regular reports on branch’s risk profile with mitigation plans to assist the franchise CRO & Committees in taking appropriate decisions to manage the risk profile within the set appetite.

Strategy Development and Implementation

  • Assist in the formulation, implementation and delivery of KSA branches’ risk strategy in line with the vision, mission, values and priorities.

Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures

  • Assist in development and effective implementation of risk policies, procedures and controls covering all areas of assigned FAB Franchises so that all relevant procedural / legislative requirements fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service.
  • Contribute in development of a risk culture within the KSA branch to drive heightened awareness and understanding of prudent risk management practices; work with other risk teams on technical aspects so that key stakeholders are equipped with the necessary knowledge.

Risk Management Framework

  • Drive the implementation of risk management systems, policies, procedures and reports for risk mitigation and risk appetite and subsequently review the risk quantum to assess level of exposure relative to risk appetite in partnership with Group Risk Heads.
  • Participate in the development, and implementation of risk models to minimise undue risk exposure and monitor key risk indicators of assigned risk profile with the aim to report and analyse the risk environment, emerging risk factors, losses and near misses.
  • Assist in the implementation of risk management systems, policies, procedures and reports for risk mitigation and risk appetite Enterprise Risk Management
  • Monitoring and Reporting of Governance across committees at Assigned FAB franchises to Group ERM.
  • Review ERM risk policies & procedures in the assigned FAB franchises.
  • Review of the Regional Product Programs in line with the Group product programs & policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Review Risk Appetite Metrics and Thresholds for the KSA branch. Monitor the Risk Appetite Metrics Thresholds vs the Actuals and reporting of breaches.
  • Prepare CRO report / ERM dashboard for assigned FAB franchises in line with overall GCRO report framework and regulatory requirement.
  • Define, calculate and monitor Pillar I capital adequacy & ICAAP report for assigned FAB franchises as per local regulatory guidelines.
  • Prepare all necessary reports for the submission to local regulators
  • Credit Risk
  • Partner with the Group Credit Risk function to define & set up the Country, Industry, Portfolio Risk Limit Framework for KSA branch and ensure that the limit framework is in compliance with the Country Limit Framework.
  • Monitor credit exposure for assigned FAB franchises is within the Country, Industry and portfolio limit set.
  • Market & Liquidity Risk
  • Ensure adherence to local regulatory guidelines relating to Market Risks
  • Operational Risk
  • Facilitate the KRI & RCSA set-up for KSA Branch including threshold definition; monitor KRI’s that are in high risk categories by providing appropriate trainings.
  • Review loss and incident data incl. actuals, near miss or potential events.
  • Review root cause analysis and corrective actions; monitor status of corrective actions.
  • Prepare the reports for the submission to local regulators and calculate / monitor capital adequacy with regards to OR capital requirements.
  • Incident / Disaster Management
  • Ensure operational effectiveness and readiness of the disaster recovery site through co-ordination and oversight of BCM activities at assigned FAB franchises.

Relationship Management

  • Maintain effective business relationships with all relevant external / internal entities and all sections with the highest standards of business ethics, whilst promptly attending to all critical issues in-order to ensure the services required by the organisation are delivered in the most effective manner.    

Reporting

  • Ensure that all functional reports are prepared timely and accurately and meet FAB Franchise & Group requirements, policies and quality standards

  • Strengthen risk, controls, governance, monitoring and reporting for KSA branch

FRAMEWORKS, BOUNDARIES, & DECISION MAKING AUTHORITY:

  • Functions within the framework and boundaries of Group & country policies as well as overall organisational and governance frameworks.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or related discipline.
  • Master’s degree in Finance or Business Administration, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Professional Certification in CFA, FRM, or a related discipline is preferred.

Minimum Experience

12-15years’ relevant experience in the banking sector with at least 10 years in similar positions of progressively increasing managerial responsibilities in the risk management function covering various facets of risk management.
