Job Description

Job Purpose:

To support and oversee the Compliance departments in International Branches, rep offices and subsidiaries located in APAC (“International Locations”). Ensure that Compliance programs in these locations are robust, complying with Group Compliance standards, Best practices and meeting local regulations.

 Job Specific Accountabilities:

Assist the Head of Corporate, Commercial & International Compliance in discharging the following responsibilities:

  • Ensure effective implementation of the Bank’s Compliance strategy and program within the International Locations  and ensure alignment with other interfacing departments and stakeholders.      
  • Oversee the Compliance departments in International Branches, rep offices and subsidiaries located in APAC and ensure that Compliance regimes in these locations are fit for purpose.
  • Act as an SME from Group perspective to provide Compliance advice to FAB’s International Locations as required.
  • Act as the first point of contact for international Compliance officers and connect with Compliance Head Office colleagues as required.
  • In conjunction with Country CEO’s, ensure proper compliance resourcing and performance management of International Locations to adequately execute Compliance programmes.
  • In conjunction with Head of Compliance in FAB’s International Locations, ensure that FAB’s Global Compliance Program is designed to meet the requirements of international laws and regulations, international best practices.
  • Oversee implementation of the Group Compliance Programme across FAB’s International Locations including management of Compliance risks in line with Group Policies and local requirements.
  • Overseeing the establishment of fit for purpose compliance programs to identify, prevent, detect and correct noncompliance with applicable rules and regulations.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with International Locations’ management to better assist Businesses in providing improvements in the First Line of Defence (FLoD) controls and adequate escalation of issues is achieved.
  • Monitor progress on global compliance related projects for International Locations. Periodically report to senior management on Compliance risk management and controls at International Locations;.
  • Monitor audit and regulatory issues in the International Locations. Periodically report their status to senior management, and drive their closure;
  •  Execute other duties as directed by the Head of Corporate, Commercial & International Compliance, rep offices and subsidiaries, including ad-hoc compliance projects.

Whilst this role is specific to the APAC region, the role still requires the VP to provide oversight over the other regions that FAB has a presence in and helps with other matters related to Corporate, Commercial & International Compliance unit.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualification

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree or higher in management, banking, Finance, preferably with certification in compliance.

Minimum Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the Banking Industry.
  • At least 5 years in compliance with exposure to global regulations and best practices in compliance standards, preferably in mature jurisdictions (FCA /ACPR / FINMA / OCC).
  • Excellent understanding of international Compliance and regulations.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, people management and facilitation skills with good leadership skills.
  • Ability to generate ideas, think creatively, develop innovative solutions and build effective business relationships quickly.
  • Team player, able to meet tight deadlines and manage challenging workload.
  • Focused on driving tasks to completion with pace, whilst retaining a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
