Large Consumer Electronics company is looking for a Director of Software Innovation. You will have the unique opportunity to define and lead key software engineering efforts and manage key technology partnerships. We are looking for a seasoned technology leader with deep hands-on experience. You must be comfortable presenting to C-level executives and equally capable of engaging in technical discussions with software engineers and colleagues as you grow software engineering capabilities and partnerships. This is a significant, critical and highly visible position which calls for a candidate to serve as a key leader for software development efforts, as well as an ambassador to key technology partners. You will be working with senior management, product management, and technology groups, and will be responsible for articulating a vision, strategy and plan for software development, developing and executing on a pipeline of key projects with measurable results and benefit. You will strengthen existing partnerships and develop new relationships critical to the achievement of the vision and strategy.

Candidates must bring excellent management and analytical skills, attention to detail, superb communication skills, and the ability to work well in a fast-paced, team environment. 

You will lead two teams responsible for; Partnership development and management, and Solution delivery in the planning, execution, and support of software initiatives.

Responsibilities Include:

• Oversee distributed teams: solution delivery – all aspects of software development consisting of both internal and externally contracted resources
• Oversee multiple software projects with varying levels of complexity and integration internally and third parties and external services.
• Lead fast paced development team, working with engineers to integrate software and hardware/firmware with internally developed hardware.
• Prioritize and allocate projects and resources with the assistance of architects, managers, and developers.
• Develop scope, budgets, and schedules for all projects.
• Participate in the strategic decisions about technology, definition, and implementation of software-related products.
• Provide leadership, guidance, motivation, and mentoring to software team members in the areas of software development, engineering judgment with a business model, and project ownership and management.
• Actively participate in the hiring
• Work with the team to develop and direct software system testing and validation procedures, programming, and documentation.

Qualifications for this Position

Required Skill Sets and Experience:

• Must have shipped end-customer facing Windows, Mac, iOS, Android, and Web service applications
• Shipped software for Consumer Electronics products
• Architecture and contribution of software developed in modern programming languages and frameworks.
• Ideally 15+ years’ work experience in technology
• Good communications skills at all levels of the organization
• Ability to lead and manage a team; ability to work collaboratively across functional areas
• Excellent attention to detail

Preferred Skill Sets and Experience:

• Experience managing key, large technology partnerships – Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Apple
