Job Description

This position requires a TS/ SCI with Full Scope Polygraph.

 

Work as part of a collaborative, multidiscipline team in support of U.S. Government and provide technical subject matter engineering expertise in the field of radio frequency (RF) communications, specifically RF Propagation. Act as a liaison between Customer technical and operational groups. Facilitate discussions with vendor’s ref. capabilities, design and options to provide Customer with recommendations. Help to define requirements and generate design concepts. Supports systems testing and implementation.

Travel: OCONUS - Less than 5%; CONUS - less than 10%

Qualifications

This position requires a TS/ SCI with Full Scope Polygraph.

Years of Experience Required: 11+

Required Education Level/Major: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Information Technology or related field, Engineering preferred

Required Skills:

· Demonstrated functional knowledge of both Government and commercial black transport resources traditionally leveraged for beyond-line-of-sight radio communications.

· Familiarity with standard practices; installation of RF systems (Coax, serial, Ethernet, wiring)

· Understanding of the basic principles of RF propagation and ability to apply that knowledge to multiple communications technologies.

· Ability to convey technical designs, ideas and results to non-technical audiences and provide briefings to high-level government personnel.

· Experience in authoring documents (reports, briefings, etc,) to support Customer mission.

· Demonstrated ability to apply the engineering design process to discover innovative methods to solve technical problems and meet client requirements.

· Familiarity with Type 1 and Commercial encryption.

· Strong SATCOM skill set

Desired Skills:

 

· Previous experience with Customer Crisis and Emergency Communications

· Previous operational experience with hands-on experience using field communications systems/technologies.

· Knowledge of Customer wireless, mobile, SATCOM equipment.

· Demonstrated strong functional knowledge of RF propagation characteristics at frequency bands: HF, VHF, UHF, L, C, X, Ka, Ku, and S.

· Familiarity with the technical characteristics of wireless standard waveforms, such as GSM, CDMA, 802.11, and 802.16, and be able to use that information in the development of RF propagation models as well as interpretation of results.

· Knowledge of Harris Tactical Radios

· Excellent oral and written communication skills

· Excellent analysis and critical thinking skills

· Capable of preparing and presenting briefings

· Familiarity with military communications, satellite and wireless communications technologies.

· Understanding of Crypto modes and testing.

· Experience with relationship building / being a technical representative on behalf of the government to achieve objectives and communicate technical requirements.
