Job Description
The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible taking customer requirements and using analytical knowledge and creative design techniques, turn a raw concept into a high quality, reliable, and repeatable Fenix Group product.
Essential Job Functions and Performance Standards:
1) Develop innovative technical solutions to a wide range of complex problems that are consistent with organizational objectives.
2) Develop, execute, and document project assignments, working independently to meet committed timelines and project goals, and per established governance policies and guidelines.
3) Perform design analysis including theoretical calculations for component fit, tolerance analysis, and thermal and stress calculations
4) Development and design of product assemblies, special tooling, and fixtures.
5) Perform and/or supervise testing of new and existing products. Develop test article solutions. Write and/or approve tests reports.
6) Oversee all required engineering qualification tests on project; ensure compliance with all outside parties involved
7) Lead small to medium-size groups in technical task completion.
8) Interact with senior customer personnel on significant technical matters, often requiring coordinated activity across organizational lines.
9) Represent the organization as a contact on projects.
10) Participate in field test events or customer demonstrations
11) Contribute to and provide input for the development of policies and procedures
12) Serve as a mentor to less experienced colleagues
13) Manage subcontractors that support product development
14) Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, instruction, and all safety rules.
15) Perform other related duties as assigned.
Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required. Advanced Degree preferred.
Experience:
• A minimum of 10+ years related work experience required
• Advanced computer skills
• Refined oral and written communication skills
• Possesses knowledge of design, prototyping, and manufacturing
Skills:
• Proficiency in SolidWorks
• Experience with design for manufacturability (DFM)
• Experience in GD&T
• Strong knowledge of electronics packaging design
• Experience with plastic injections, molds and parts design
Experience in tolerance analysis methods and finite elemental analysis (FEA)
• Rapid Prototype Design
• MIL-STD 810 Testing and Validation
Other Requirements:
• Must be a U.S. Citizen
• Work Authorization / Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain a Secret level clearance
• Travel is primarily locally during the business day, although some out of the area travel and overnight may be expected
