Job Description

Main Duties / Responsibilities:  

  • Plans and coordinates the work of engineering staff. 

  • Oversees engineering staff and ensures that they meet goals and objectives. 

  • Recruits additional engineering staff as needed. 

  • Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.   

  • Provides training and mentoring as needed. 

  • Providing technical guidance to engineering teams and top management.  

  • Supporting established organizational objectives by developing goals and strategies. 

  • Presenting budgets and plans. 

  • Finding and implementing ways to improve cost-efficiency.  

  • Consults with Chief Operating Officer and Manufacturing management to create long-range operating and manufacturing goals specific to the needs of the organization. 

  • Develops new products from concept to testing to production. 

  • Collaborates with marketing department to determine market potential for new products. 

  • Oversees progress and timeliness of projects. 

  • Reviews project reports to ensure projects are on schedule and within budget. 

  • Performs other related duties as required 

Supervisory Responsibility: 
The Engineering Manager is responsible for all employees of the Engineering department and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within those departments. 

Work Environment: 
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: 
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. 

Travel: 
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected. 

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) in Engineering required; Master’s degree in Engineering or Business Administration preferred

  • 10 or more years of management experience

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent managerial and supervisory skills

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Extensive technical knowledge of engineering and product development

  • Excellent financial skills and ability to analyze financial data

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software

Preferred Education and Experience:  

  • Master’s degree or higher in Engineering field

  • 3+ years of previous experience working for a company within the industry or from a similar business

  • Knowledge of engineering and integration functions

Additional Eligibility Qualifications: 

  • Must be a U.S. citizen 

  • Must be able to obtain a US Secret security clearance
