Fastmarkets' data is critical for customers seeking to understand and predict dynamic, sometimes opaque markets, enabling trading and risk management. It has more than 700 employees spread across global locations in the UK, US, China, India, Singapore, Brazil, Belgium, Bulgaria, Finland and beyond.
Job Description
The Senior Marketing Specialist is a hands-on events marketing and commercial-enablement role focused on growing Fastmarkets' events presence in the Chinese domestic market, a high-growth region where we are building a real footprint.
You will work side by side with the Account Executive to drive sponsorship and exhibitor sales and delegate sales. You will build targeted prospect and opportunity lists using China-based tools and platforms, run the campaigns and outreach that turn those prospects into pipeline, and manage the vendors and partners who help us deliver. You will also own the strategic marketing plan for each event and see events through from planning to post-event review, reporting results clearly to stakeholders.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Sales Support: Sponsorship, Exhibitor and Delegate Revenue
- Account Executive partnership: Work closely with the Account Executives and Commercial Marketing Team to identify, prioritise and warm up sponsorship and exhibitor prospects, providing the lists, materials, messaging and follow-up needed to move leads through the sales pipeline.
- Delegate acquisition: Plan and execute multi-channel campaigns that drive qualified delegate registrations across our key commodity portfolios and convert data into Marketing Qualified Leads (MQLs).
- VIP guesting and personal outreach: Run VIP guesting and one-to-one outreach through WeCom and WeChat to secure and retain high-value delegates, and support the Account Executive with warm introductions to sponsor prospects.
- Sales collateral: Create and maintain sponsorship prospectuses, case studies, pitch materials and tailored proposals in Mandarin and English.
Prospecting and Opportunity List Building
- Opportunity lists: Use Chinese platforms and tools (for example WeCom, WeChat, Baidu, and China-based B2B databases and business directories) alongside our CRM and marketing automation stack to build, segment and maintain prospect and opportunity lists for sponsors, exhibitors and delegates.
- Segmentation and research: Research target industries, companies and decision-makers across our commodity sectors to prioritise accounts and tailor outreach.
- Data quality: Keep prospect data accurate, compliant and well-structured in our systems so that handovers to Sales are clean and trackable.
Marketing Campaign Management
- Multi-channel execution: Deliver integrated campaigns across email, paid search (Baidu a key channel), social, WeChat, website and content marketing.
- Audience engagement: Work with subject matter experts and China-based content colleagues to create compelling content and messaging that attracts and engages target audiences.
- WeChat promotion: Work with the Marketing Executive in Shanghai to promote events across Fastmarkets' WeChat accounts and secure event promotion within relevant articles.
- Website optimisation: Collaborate with the Senior Marketing Operations Manager and other stakeholders to optimise website content for lead generation and conversion.
- Brand building: Contribute to the visibility and consistency of the Fastmarkets brand across events, content and marketing materials.
Strategic Planning
- Event marketing strategy: Develop and own marketing plans for each event, covering objectives, target segments, channel mix, timelines, budgets and resourcing, aligned to delegate and sponsorship revenue targets.
- Market insight: Use performance data, market knowledge and competitor activity to refine strategy, identify new opportunities and prioritise investment.
- Budget management: Manage marketing budgets, forecast spend and track financials accurately.
Vendor and Partner Management
- Vendor oversight: Manage multiple vendors and partners, such as advertising and media agencies, data and list providers, translation and creative suppliers, industry associations and media partners, covering briefing, negotiation, delivery and performance review.
- Partnership development: Build and maintain relationships with industry bodies and media partners in China that extend our reach and support sponsor and delegate acquisition.
- Contract and cost control: Keep clear records of scope, deliverables, costs and timelines for each supplier.
End-to-End Event Marketing Management
- Pre-event: Build the marketing plan, launch campaigns, coordinate with Production, Sales and Operations, and track progress against registration and sponsorship targets.
- During event: Support on-site marketing activity, content capture, sponsor and delegate engagement, and lead capture.
- Post-event: Run post-event follow-up, gather delegate and sponsor feedback, evaluate campaign and event performance, and feed learnings into the next cycle, including renewal and upsell opportunities for Sales.
Reporting and Presentation
- Performance tracking: Track and report on KPIs including registrations, demographics, conversion and retention rates, pipeline generated, sponsorship leads and ROI by channel.
- Stakeholder reporting: Prepare and present regular, clear reports and insights to the Events leadership, Sales and other stakeholders, highlighting what is working, what is not and what to do next.
- Continuous improvement: Use data to optimise campaigns and improve conversion.
Collaboration
- Work closely with Production, Sales and Operations to align activity with event goals.
- Provide wider events team support from time to time as needed to deliver successful events.
