Job Description
The role will be responsible for running the core process to enable revenue recognition in line with IFRS 15 as well as providing robust explanations on variances to forecast and designing and implementation process improvements. The role requires strong data analysis skills.
Specifically, the role involves:
- Own the month-end closing revenue accounting and reporting processes
- Take responsibility for the successful completion of the external audit of revenue and associated balance sheet balances
- Design and implement process and reporting improvements
- Monthly balance sheet reconciliations of deferred, unbilled and accrued revenue
- Calculation of monthly bad debt provision
90% of the Group’s revenue is recurring subscription revenue with the remaining 10% being revenue from consultancy projects and the hosting of Industry Events.
The Group’s consolidated revenue is c£170m and has historically grown by more than 10% each year. The Group’ customers are based all over the world and are invoiced in $, £, € and CNY.

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
We are looking for an individual who is highly motivated, driven, and have a passion to be part of a fast-paced, successful team. Being a strong team player is also important as well as someone who is happy to work flexibly.
- Expertise in IFRS15 recognition of recurring subscription revenue on contracts of varying durations
- Understanding of how foreign exchange impacts the reporting of revenue at a consolidated and subsidiary level
- Understanding of how deferred, unbilled and accrued revenue is calculated and presented
- Experience of working with large data sets, identifying and correcting incorrect or incomplete data, reconciling between multiple data sources and producing insightful reports and analysis.
- The ability to manage multiple competing deadlines and in particular experience of delivering a smooth month end during an external audit process
- Experience in managing the audit of revenue f including the delivery of all required audit information (reports, contracts, invoices, proof of payment) of a high quality and on time
- A willingness to trawl through systems to obtain the information requested by the external auditors.
- Ideally experience in using NetSuite and Salesforce but if not, a track record of picking up new systems very quickly
- Attention to detail and the attribute of not giving up when solving data quality or completeness issues.
