Job Description

This position is responsible for managing and executing a variety of marketing projects and programs including: community events, donations, sponsorships and promotions. Supporting the Manager - Community Engagement, this position will help ensure that all requirements are delivered in a timely manner while adhering to established brand guidelines. The performance of the duties must ensure a quality service approach to all employees, customers and suppliers. All responsibilities must be performed in a timely manner consistent with the Farm Boy vision, mission, and the Farm Boy Way.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Execute the community engagement plan and run programs such as sampling, sponsorships, promotions, events, and donations at or around our Southwest Ontario and GTA stores.  
  • Support the marketing department's initiatives with the planning, executing, and tracking of marketing programs such as seasonal campaigns, events or content marketing.
  • Assist with development and management of marketing projects and public relations efforts.
  • Independently coordinate and execute events in the community and at our stores.
  • Manage and coordinate the Farm Boy mascot appearances at events in the community and in-store.
  • Plan and execute annual community fundraising campaigns.
  • Administer corporate donation program including responding to incoming requests and coordinating donations, tracking all activity and providing weekly update. 
  • Support research and community outreach in new and existing markets, including food banks and hospital foundations.  
  • Ensure timely execution of department administration including budget tracking and reporting.
  • May be requested to undertake other projects and duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Typically requires completion of a post-secondary program with an emphasis in marketing or event planning plus 1-2 years of experience in marketing (preferably with a focus on retail grocery), or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of marketing, project management and event coordination fundamentals.
  • Well-developed computer skills, specifically in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Proven ability to set priorities, multitask and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communicator both written and verbal.
  • Keen eye for detail with good follow-up practices.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and decisive with a hands-on approach.
  • Customer skills including tact, diplomacy, discretion and relationship building.
  • Passion for food and interest in nutrition and healthy living. 
  • Superior command of English language (both written and verbal).
  • Flexible schedule, including availability during evenings and weekends on occasion.
  • Fluency in French shall be considered an asset.

Work & Sensory Environment:

  • Sitting for long periods of time at workstations (e.g. while keyboarding).
  • Ability to travel between retail locations and community events with reliable transportation.
  • Lack of control over pace due to multiple and/or tight deadlines beyond one’s control.
  • Exposure to eye strain from computer terminals.
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs.
