Job Description

This position is responsible for leading the overall business activities in the Warehouse, while effectively managing the operations for Farm Boy. The performance of the duties must ensure a quality service approach to all employees, customers and suppliers. All responsibilities must be performed in a manner consistent with the Farm Boy Way.

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and manage the warehouse to ensure clean, safe and efficient handling of receiving, storage and shipment of our quality products.
  • Implement and maintain an environment of professional employees who respect our product, building and equipment.
  • Create a team environment among all warehouse team members.
  • Work closely with the Director of Distribution to set performance standards, evaluate systems and set department goals.
  • Monitor, analyze and control all phases of the warehouse operations ensuring that the department operates at all times in accordance with Farm Boy policies and standards.
  • Effective and timely communications on supply related issues such as shortages, damages, and rotation issues.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and security of warehouse building, equipment, and fleet.
  • Ensure timely execution of product distribution to the stores, while minimizing disruption to store operations.
  • Ensure high-level sanitation practices to ensure a clean and safe work environment, and adherence to Health and Safety practices by all personnel.
  • Identify and communicate current and potential quality issues.
  • Work with Human Resources to hire, train, lead, coach, evaluate and discipline staff.
  • Guide and direct the warehouse team by example and monitor staff performance, including the design of plans and agendas for the performance of work and documenting progress and required follow-up.
  • May be requested to undertake other related duties on a periodic basis.

Qualifications

  • Typically requires completion of a post-secondary program in a related field plus 3 to 5 years of management experience in a logistics or distribution environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Working knowledge of warehouse operations, procedures and equipment.
  • Thorough knowledge of produce and related quality control.
  • Ability to manage and control inventory in a cost-effective way.
  • Knowledge of industrial Health & Safety Standards.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities.
  • Superior quality and customer service standards.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet established goals and objectives.
  • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills.
  • Superior time management and organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel.
  • Fluency in both official languages shall be considered an asset.
  • Must be flexible as to scheduling and be available for 24/7 on-call support.
