Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for serving meals to residents and performing cleaning duties in the work area. Responsibilities include preparing and serving food, cleaning equipment in the kitchen, and cleaning the food service area.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

•Serves food to residents on a tray assembly line at mealtime.

•Assists in the preparation of food for cooking.

•Prepares coffee, salads and portions food according to instructions.

•Operates steam table, coffee urns, tray line equipment, dishwasher and various other kitchen appliances.

•Cleans and prepares serving areas and utensils.

•Reports unsafe conditions in the department and suggests possible solutions to the hazards.

•Works well with others. Shows teamwork and cooperation.


PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

•Performs repetitive motions including bending, twisting, stooping, pushing and pulling.

•Employees must have the ability to smell and taste food for evaluation.

•Ability to stand for an extended period of time without a significant rest period.

•Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision, close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

•Employees in this position must be able to regularly lift up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.

•While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to cooking fumes and may handle toxic or caustic chemicals.

•Ability to perform duties varying conditions including heat, cold and wet and/or humid, etc.

•Ability to work with disorientated, confused or otherwise handicapped residents.

•The work environment is typically noisy.


Dietary aide positions available:  30-40 hours in a 2 week period and 60-80 hours in a 2 week pay period. These positions would also be  backup Cook as needed.
