Building Automation System Programming

Location: Washington, DC 20376 (WNY)

Employment Type: Full-time, direct hire.

Term: Multi-year

Clearance: Secret (eligible)

Travel: None

The operation team provides services to support building operations for multiple DOD sites in the Washington DC metropolitan region. A support team of operators and programmers monitor and operate a site of approximately 25 to 50 buildings at this central command center. They assist efforts in identifying site specific safety and security issues and mitigation plans.  They identify any risk or issues that may impact the operation. They identify non-responsive or malfunctioning equipment and provide trouble ticket information. They modify existing control sequences to optimize and reduce energy consumption.  

  • Optimize HVAC schedules.
  • Optimize temperature set points.
  • Optimize lighting schedules.
  • Re-commission control systems.

The contractor will program the controls systems in the native block PLC programming of the top controls vendors in the Navy inventory:  Johnson Controls, Siemens, Honeywell, Schneider, and Barber-Coleman as well as be proficient in Modbus, BACNet and LonWorks protocols. During the performance of the contract:

  • Ensure the command and control of the software suite seamlessly connects with the vendor’s framework for comprehensive shore operations.
  • In the event of an incident or building system out of tolerance, perform root-cause-analysis to diagnose problems, determine alternative solutions, and recommend best options.
  • Operate, program, and manage HVAC control system from the operation center.
  • Program, manage, and maintain enterprise HVAC DDC system across multiple installations.
  • Establish appropriate logic from the operation center to resolve problems, improve building performance, accommodate tenant requests, or comply with Navy regulations.

Work Schedule:

Monday through Friday, between the core hours of 0700 and 1500. (40 hour a week/average 80 hours in two weeks). During heighten states, must be on-call status during non-core hours.

Qualifications

Seeking proficiency in the following areas: 

  • PLC programming
  • Proficiency in programing command and control platforms. Niagara 4 preferred
  • Familiar with XML concepts.
  • Ability to pass a background investigation. Secret clearance preferred.
