A FORWARD Fraud Subject Matter Expert will be responsible for the day-to-day management of reviewing fraudulent applications and providing guidance to Intake Specialists on proper procedures. The Fraud SME is required to have a basic knowledge of the principles, concepts, and methodology of reviewing documents, understanding lease agreements, notary signatures, and parcel searches, and demonstrated skills in applying this knowledge in carrying out assignments, operations, or procedures. 

Responsibilities 

● Review of applications containing key fraud indicators for authenticity and accuracy. 

● Hold daily meetings for Intake Specialists to field questions and provide feedback/guidance on proper procedures to identify fraud. 

● Work with Managers and Team Leads to help Intake Specialists identify and filter out fraudulent applications. 

● Work with review specialist, outreach specialist, and OA/OC specialist to ensure applications are accurate and indicators of fraud are resolved

● Approve and Deny applications for award within the FORWARD application system 

● Submit requests for application status updates to the engineering team and track progress

● Assist the appeals team with grievance reviews, including presenting denied case details. 

● Upload and digitalize applications received in paper form

● Respond to inquiries from community DRC agencies and provide case updates promptly. 

● Willingness to work with management to create new processes and procedures to speed up the processing of applications. 

● Maintain a small caseload as an Intake Specialist

● Provide excellent customer service to program participants and accurately respond to inquiries about the program.

 

Qualifications

● Associate Degree in Related Field; Bachelor's Degree is preferred 

● 2+ years of experience in a related field; 4+ years of experience without Bachelor's Degree

● Strong Excel and/or Google Sheets skills

● You are technically savvy and able to learn new systems and processes quickly

● Strong ability to work well with people from varied cultural, socioeconomic, educational, and experiential backgrounds 

● Customer service experience and effective communication skills, both orally and in writing 

● Demonstrated ability to work independently and to adapt quickly to new challenges 

● Able to work on several projects simultaneously and handle a high volume of activity

● You can manage files and documents, follow record-keeping requirements and maintain confidentiality

● The ability to understand program regulations and policy proficiency and ensure compliance with multiple assigned programs 

● Experience in reviewing details of  tax, real estate, and income documentation in a professional environment

● High level of organization and a focus on attention to detail

● Have U.S. work authorization

Salary Scale:  $60,000 - $80,000/yr.
