Job Description

The Senior Application Database Administrator plays a key role in designing, supporting, and improving cloud-based databases that power modern applications. This person partners closely with engineering, DevOps, and platform teams to ensure databases are reliable, scalable, secure, and optimized for performance. This is a hands-on role with strong technical leadership, where you will guide best practices and help teams build solutions that work well in cloud environments while supporting business-critical applications. You will report to the Software Development Agile Developer.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, performance, and reliability of cloud-based, application-facing databases
  • Partner with engineering teams to build scalable, resilient, and cost-efficient database solutions
  • Guide best practices for database design, schema changes, and performance tuning
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, leading root cause analysis when needed
  • Implement standards, guardrails, and automation to improve database operations
  • Mentor team members and support knowledge sharing across engineering and database communities

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience working with application databases or in DBA roles, including cloud environments
  • Strong expertise in at least one relational database platform (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server)
  • Hands-on experience with cloud-managed database services and modern architectures
  • Advanced skills in SQL performance tuning and troubleshooting
  • Experience supporting production systems and making sound technical decisions independently
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work across diverse teams
