Job Description
The Software Engineering Manager is a hands-on technical leader responsible for leading and growing engineering teams while remaining deeply engaged in architecture and delivery. This role drives the design and build of a scalable, resilient Housing Data & Analytics Platform that serves as a foundation for GenAI and agentic AI capabilities, along with managing multiple Housing and Rental Solutions.
- This position is part of the Experian Housing Engineering team, concentrating on engineering, architecture & development of unified platform solutions, new product prototyping, reporting to the Director of Engineering
- Hands‑on technologist with experience in AWS and Generative AI tools (Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Codex), demonstrating an AI‑first approach in recent projects to enhance productivity and accelerate the SDLC
- You will lead product engineering teams, fostering a culture of Engineering Excellence, and mentor and develop teams to align with business strategy.
- Collaborate with Experian platform and AI teams and peer engineering leaders across business units to align on shared patterns, reuse capabilities, and contribute to group-wide AI strategy.
- You will be accountable for Housing Product Deliveries, using metrics to track project health and aligning with other business units for cross-BU delivery.
- You will manage and reduce TCO through simplification, automation, and optimizations.
- You will manage the Security Dashboard for Housing Products, ensuring you address vulnerabilities within the risk appetite and managing operational and delivery risk.
- You will use metrics to drive continuous improvement and reduce tech debt, fostering a culture of improvement.
- You will contribute to Housing Revenue by delivering cost-effective, high-quality engineering and supporting Agile methods to drive business outcomes.
- You will develop and implement a delivery model for rapid concept testing and act as a business change driver, contributing to the Technology Roadmap for future growth.
- You will be reporting to the Director of Engineering
Qualifications
- Bachelor's in engineering, Data Science, or Computer Science
- You should have 12+ years of experience in engineering, data science, or software development, with 4+ years leading or managing teams
- Hands-on Proficiency in AWS cloud Services, full stack, testing, CI/CD, DevOps & security best practices.
- Expertise in Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and microservices architecture.
- Big Data & AI/ML Expertise: Expertise in constructing big data platforms and leveraging AI and ML capabilities to drive product innovation and operational efficiency.
- Proficient in using AWS/Cloud for deploying data and AI services, ensuring scalability, security, and performance.
- Domain experience in housing, rental markets, tenant screening, and Credit Bureau
- Familiarity with Generative AI / LLMs, agentic AI patterns, prompt engineering, and model governance.
- Practical experience with AI-assisted development tools (GitHub Copilot, Cursor) and applying them safely in SDLC.
- Experience optimizing cloud costs and capacity planning for large data platforms.
- Experience with data cataloging, lineage, and metadata management solutions.
