Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Automation Engineer to lead the delivery of automation solutions across our hybrid infrastructure. This role is important for driving automation, improving operational efficiency, and ensuring self-service capabilities across regions. You will collaborate with global product owners and teams, and partners to deliver scalable, secure, and innovative solutions that support Experian's transformation goals.

As a senior member of the team, you will provide technical leadership, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to strategic planning and automation roadmaps. This is an exciting opportunity to work, leveraging cutting-edge technologies to modernize our infrastructure.

You will be reporting to the Automation manager.

What You'll Do:

  • You will lead the development, optimisation, and maintenance of large‑scale platform automation, including Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD pipelines, and workflow automation.

  • You will architect and build IaC solutions for Windows and Linux platforms, ensuring reliability, standardisation.

  • Manage end‑to‑end automation projects across technical and delivery functions within the UK&I region, ensuring platforms remain stable, secure, and refreshed.

  • Design and enhance ServiceNow forms and workflows that integrate with Ansible to enable self‑service and automated operations.

  • Engage with cross‑functional teams to understand infrastructure and application needs, converting them into scalable automated solutions.

  • Produce clear, comprehensive documentation and actively contribute to internal knowledge sharing and best‑practice guidance.

  • Champion continuous improvement, identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency, quality, and delivery speed through automation.

Qualifications

What We're Looking For:

  • 10+ years of senior‑level experience working with automation toolsets such as Terraform, Ansible, Postman, Bruno, and Git.

  • Advanced scripting and automation expertise using PowerShell, YAML, Git workflows, and Python.

  • Experience with ServiceNow development, integration, and workflow automation.

  • Hands-on cloud experience across AWS, Azure, and/or GCP, including automating cloud-native services.

  • Experience with CI/CD platforms (e.g., Jenkins, Harness) and containerisation technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, Amazon EKS).

  • Ground in Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, LeSS) and ITIL processes.

  • Experience approaching a problem from different angles, analyzing pros and cons of different solutions, troubleshooting

  • Experience communicating updates and resolutions to customers and other partners.

  • Innovate and provide creative, scalable automation solutions.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in automation architecture with the technical direction and lead strategic automation programs.

  • Exposure to DevOps practices, enterprise‑scale automation frameworks, and designing solutions that support large, distributed environments.

  • Experience with ITIL processes, along with hands‑on experience working with ServiceNow ticketing, workflow automation, and integration patterns.

  • Experience in process mapping, workflow optimisation, and identifying opportunities for automation across operational and delivery functions.

  • Familiarity with AI‑driven automation frameworks (e.g., MCP or similar platforms) and an interest in latest technologies that enhance automation and platform capabilities.

  • Collaborate across engineering, operations, and product teams, providing guidance, mentoring, and best practices as a senior technical contributor.
