Job Description

Job Overview

The Experian North America Government Affairs team is Washington D.C.-based, with a focus on state and federal lobbying activity. This includes engaging in legislative advocacy on behalf of Experian's diverse business interests. Experian participates in both state and Washington, DC-based trade associations and coalitions, and Experian maintains an active PAC that engages in bi-partisan political giving.

We are looking for a self-starer who brings great collaboration and knowledge of state legislative and regulatory policy to our core Government Affairs team. You will be Washington, D.C. based and will report to the SVP, Government Affairs.

 

What you will do

  • Monitor legislative and regulatory proposals at the state level that would affect Experian's core credit bureau, commercial credit, marketing services, automotive, health, and consumer services businesses.
  • Help lead legislative regulatory engagement with state policymakers working directly with state-based consultants and lobbyists, main trade associations, outside legal engagements, and other resources.
  • Help direct Experian's PAC activities at the state level
  • Communicate expert analysis that allows members of the Government Affairs and Legal team to keep Experian's employees informed about state public policy and regulatory issues.
  • Work with the company communications department to publish internal legislative and regulatory reports, including messages regarding legislation, public policy, and regulatory actions.
  • Communicate information on enacted statutes and regulations to Experian's legal,department for compliance purposes.

Qualifications

  • Must live in the Washington D.C. area as this is a hybrid in-office job
  • Available to travel for work once a month
  • 5+ years of experience either working on state or federal legislative or regulatory policy, at a state or federal financial regulatory agency, or with a policy-oriented organization.
  • Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Business Administration, Public Policy, or related area.
  • Experience working on privacy, financial services, and technology issues.
  • Experience working with diverse personality types and across party lines.
  • Experience extracting important takeaways from legislation
