Job Description
Scope of Position: To assist the supervisor with the pursuit of Warehouse Excellence by promoting a culture of Safety & Security, loading/unloading trucks, interacting with agents to ensure data entry protocols are being followed at all times, while setting an example for others.
Responsibilities:
Facility Compliance
- Ensure a safe and secure work environment, following all OSHA rules, as well as state and local laws.
- Maintain warehouse procedures and Expeditors Security & Safety standards.
- Maintain a clean and professional facility meeting all the warehouse excellence requirements.
- Reporting any issues with equipment to ensure safe operational condition.
- Help to manage inventory of packaging materials and supplies.
- Adhere to all company, country compliance standards (ITAR, DG, Wood pallets, TSA, CFS etc)
Labor Management
- Support the vision and goals as outline by the warehouse management and communicate them in huddles, set the example for others.
- Support employee versatility (cross training).
- Abides by all Expeditors policies and procedures.
- Support company, district and product goals.
- Teaching our culture mission and goals.
Operations and Quality
- Daily monitoring of Warehouse Workflow exception dashboards to ensure timely execution, (GNS WF inbound/outbound, GNS Manifest work board outbound, EAD WF).
- Oversee the processes, following operational standards (OPS) and KPI expectations.
- Ability to cover any other warehouse agent / desk function.
- Ensures accurate and timely data entry into our system through receiving, scripts, loading, unloading etc.
- Accurate weighing and dimensioning of cargo.
- Accurate labeling of freight.
- Accurate put away locations
- Completes EOS reports.
- Will run huddles when a supervisor is not available.
- Helps to Improve safety, quality, process and cost through continuous improvement methods
- Participate in transitioning new customers as needed
- Manage, prevent, and resolve inventory, over/short/damage, process and customer exceptions
- Perform process audits where applicable
- Keeping the board updated with dock door and staff information current.
- Escalation point for agents when supervisor is not readily available.
- Whatever task the Supervisor/Manager assigns
Financial
- Keeping costs down by communicating what is needed on the shift to support our operations, including sending contract workers home/calling people in late/managing OT.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma
- Experience: 2 years working in warehouse operations and showing potential in leadership through behavior and actions.
Knowledge/ Skills:
- Solid understanding of OSHA rules, state, local, and company Health and Safety rules and compliance.
- Strong decision-making skills.
- Strong team leadership, customer service, and account management skills
- Professional written and verbal communication skills
- Critical thinker & resourceful
- Adaptable to change, reliable and self-motivated.
- Has a positive attitude and works well with others
- Knows his job and the jobs around him well and is consistently seeking knowledge.
