Job Description

The Global Business Operations team is focused on building a world-class operation through consistent standards, continuous improvement, and better processes, tools, and strategies that support excellent customer service. Transportation warehouses play a critical role in our business and have a direct impact on the experience of both customers and employees. The Warehouse Operations Program helps ensure our warehouses operate at a high standard by improving processes, implementing technology, and working with teams across the global network to maintain safe, efficient, and well-managed facilities.

 

The Transportation Warehouse Senior Manager leads the strategy and direction of the Transportation Warehouse global strategy. This role oversees warehouse-related initiatives, participates in Information Systems (IS) planning, and helps prepare and coordinate system releases. They also lead Program Increment (PI) Planning to ensure team priorities are aligned with business and development goals for the exp.o Transportation Warehouse Management System.

 

The role includes regular communication with stakeholders regarding progress, risks, and delays. It also supports the development and management of the warehouse Alpha team, including defining participation requirements, onboarding members, and maintaining engagement. In addition, the manager contributes to GT development activities such as feature prioritization, feedback reviews, continuous exploration, and WSJF planning. The position is responsible for developing team members and providing leadership and support to direct reports.  

 

Direct Report:  Senior Vice President; Global Business Operations

Responsibilities:

  • Transportation Warehouse Product Leader
  • Strategy and Execution of IS Dev and Release Team
  • Manage TWMS projects from inception to execution, including development and operational deployment, on time as planned.
  • Oversee implementation of TWMS and other technologies in transportation warehouses across the globe.
  • Provide training and support to operators using TWMS and other technologies across the globe.
  • Advise Global Technology (GT) teams on the prioritization of technology development for TWMS and other technologies. (Buy or Build)
  • Support usage of TWMS and other technologies, engaging districts with low performance to design remediation plans.
  • Ownership of warehouse operations processes and standards outlined in the company’s Operational Performance Assessments.
  • Build and maintain effective project deployment plans in Azure DevOps as per team guidelines and procedures.
  • Leadership and growth in team members dedicated to warehouse systems and excellence.
  • Communicate updates on progress & risks.
  • Ensure all parties participate and provide feedback to drive our direction and strategy around system release management.
  • Contribute to a global operational standard to create and protect the pursuit of “Best in Class” operations.
  • Drive global consistency with our standards, operational tools and district execution.
  • Drive global awareness around the value and fundamentals of Business Processes.
  • Create an environment of continuous improvement across all geographies.
  • Drive continuous improvement across Expeditors’ transportation warehouses through a focus on process design and deployment, technology design and deployment, and analyzing performance to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Support monthly calls with the global network covering important updates for Warehouse Operations and using the platform to create a positive environment focused on continuous improvement and operational excellence.
