Job Description

Scope of Position:  

  • The Cartage Coordinator is responsible for the timely and accurate dispatch and coordination of local pickups and deliveries for the LAX branch and surrounding areas, supporting all transportation products in alignment with Expeditors’ service standards.
  • This position serves as a key point of coordination between internal product teams, warehouse operations, and external trucking and service providers to ensure efficient freight movement, clear communication, and exceptional internal and external customer service.
  • The Cartage Coordinator is accountable for managing shipment visibility, addressing exceptions or delays, and ensuring accurate and timely flow of information to support operational efficiency, cost control, and customer commitments.
  • The role requires frequent phone and email communication, strong organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize multiple shipments in a fast‑paced, time‑sensitive environment.

Position Schedule:  Monday – Friday 9am-6pm


Major Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Dispatch and coordinate local pickups and deliveries across all products for the LAX branch in accordance with service requirements and priorities.
  • Track, trace, and monitor all shipments to maintain visibility and ensure timely execution of pickups and deliveries.
  • Proactively communicate with internal product teams, warehouse operations, and external service providers to meet operational and customer needs.
  • Manage daily workflow, dashboards, and operational queues, adjusting priorities based on volume and service demands.
  • Identify, follow up on, and resolve delays and service exceptions, including accurate exception coding, documentation, and reporting.
  • Maintain accurate and timely data entry while building and sustaining strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Physical Demands

  • Use of standard office equipment - computer with keyboard and mouse, phone, fax/copy/scan machine, etc.  
  • Write with pencil/pen/marker 
  • Functions performed primarily while seated at desk

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Degree or equivalent required
  • Successful candidates must pass a background check
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Must not require future sponsorship for employment visa
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal
  • Must have the ability to work overtime in support of the department’s needs
  • Must be able to commute to the city of Hawthorne, CA
  • Comfortable with numbers and basic mathematical skills
  • Comfortable working in a professional business environment.

  • Associates or Undergraduate Degree Preferred
  • Good computer skills (Word, Excel, and familiarity with PowerPoint)
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize throughout the workday while remaining focused and organized

The wage for this position is $19.00-$28.00
