Job Description
Major Duties and Responsibilities
People
- Identify, develop, and mentor your No. 2.
- Review and participate to staff appraisals timely, and at a minimum once per year per employee.
- Ensure all staff and positions have job descriptions, clear expectations and are working with structured development plans.
- Ensure and assist supervisors and key staff with goal setting and monitoring.
- Conduct regular interviews with potential new personnel.
- Plan for and hold effective monthly department meetings with team.
- Review department goals and business plan periodically with staff to ensure buy-in and accountability.
- Ensure team meets company standards of 52 hours training per year, including as needed management/leadership training for
- the management team.
PICKUP & DELIVERY OPERATIONS
- Manage pickup & delivery operations within the district.
- Proactively communicates with product.
- Daily focus on meeting established KPI for the district cartage program.
- Prepares periodic reports and present such reports to branch management.
- Manages rationalization as it relates to the cartage providers.
- Develops new strategies for maintaining or improving quality-of-service.
- Manages process for documenting and communicating accessorial charges.
- Focus on minimizing costs and increasing profitability.
- Manages service exceptions and solves issues quickly.
- Serves as an escalation path for operations when local PU/D challenges arise and communicate resolutions.
- Be a role model of integrity and pride for all employees.
DEDICATED FLEET OPERATIONS
- Works with service providers to insure efficient usage of equipment and drivers.
- Monitors and assist service provider in the control of variable cost.
- Rate audits & payables approval.
- Root cause analysis on service failures and develop corrective action as necessary.
- Provide costing and price support to product.
- Conduct quarterly service provider evaluations in support of the Service Provider Management Program.
Qualifications
- 3+ years transportation, coordination, distribution, or related experience. (Local PU&D experience preferred)
- Proven ability to lead a team.
- Air & Ground DG (Dangerous Goods) Certification will be required.
- Proven to have effective communication skills, including written and verbal.
- Proven ability to facilitate meetings and productive conversations.
- Exhibits confidence and strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate to employees at all levels.
- Exhibits strong organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities effectively.
- Exhibits an attention to detail and the ability to follow through and complete task timely.
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite (e.g. Outlook, Word, Excel , PowerPoint, Dynamics)

- Expected compensation $65,000 - $72,000, eligible for bonus
