Summary:
The Senior Manager, Strategic Accounts is a leadership role focused on building and developing high-performing teams of Account Managers. These teams are responsible for delivering exceptional service, driving strategic alignment with key customers, and executing plans that generate new, diversified, and retained revenue.
This role combines hands-on account leadership with team development, ensuring that every Account Manager is equipped to lead winning strategies, foster deep customer relationships, and deliver measurable results. The Senior Manager will also directly manage one strategic global account to stay closely connected to the customer experience and commercial execution.
Key Responsibilities:
Foster Accountability: Set clear expectations, conduct regular performance reviews, and hold teams accountable for customer outcomes, revenue targets, and service excellence.
Develop Customer Experts: Build and lead a team of Global Account Managers who are deeply knowledgeable about their customers, capable of strategic planning, and accountable for delivering results.
Drive Strategic Customer Alignment: Ensure teams are aligned with customer goals and business priorities, proactively identifying opportunities to deepen relationships and expand services.
Deliver Commercial Impact: Lead efforts to generate new revenue, diversify existing revenue streams, and retain business through thoughtful engagement and execution.
Lead by Example: Personally manage one strategic global account to maintain a direct connection to customer needs, demonstrate best practices, and model leadership behaviors.
Collaborate Across Functions: Partner with Sales, Product, Operations, and Executive Leadership to ensure account strategies are aligned with broader company goals and capabilities.
Champion the Expeditors Experience: Ensure consistent delivery of our value proposition, reinforcing our commitment to service, integrity, and operational excellence.
Support Global Growth: Work closely with Account Management Regional Leader and Regional Vice Presidents to support regional and global initiatives that drive strategic growth.
Scope:
While the Senior Manager leads strategic account development and team performance, decisions related to compensation, hiring, and personnel movement across accounts remain under the purview of the Account Management Regional Leader. This structure ensures clarity while empowering the Senior Manager to focus on customer excellence and team leadership.
Qualifications
Proven success in global account management, including direct ownership of complex, high-value customer relationships.
Demonstrated leadership experience with a track record of developing and inspiring teams.
Strong commercial acumen and ability to drive revenue growth in a global, matrixed environment.
Excellent communication, strategic thinking, and stakeholder management skills.
10+ years of supply chain or related industry experience, with 5+ years in account management.
Willingness to travel globally as needed.
