Job Description

Position Overview

The Management Trainee Program at Expeditors is a comprehensive introduction to our products, services, and operations. This program is designed to equip high-potential individuals with the knowledge and experience needed to build a long-term career within the company — from operational to supervisory and even managerial roles. Participants will gain hands-on exposure across all departments, including operations, finance, sales, customer retention, and management. Ideal candidates are self-motivated, disciplined, flexible, and open to travel during the program.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The successful candidate will:

  • Participate in the Management Trainee Orientation
  • Learn and apply the Expeditors culture and business processes
  • Assist in day-to-day operations and support department supervisors
  • Understand and contribute to department-specific operational and financial reporting
  • Attend relevant meetings (departmental, sales, accounting, etc.)
  • Work on and deliver at least two meaningful projects during the program
  • Participate in product-specific sales or retention meetings (where applicable)
  • Proactively promote Expeditors’ Mission Statement and 10 Cultural Attributes
  • Demonstrate flexibility, initiative, and a willingness to adapt to various work environments

 

 

Qualifications

Mandatory Programs (to be completed before graduation):

  • Supervisor Curriculum
  • Introduction to Sales
  • Supply Chain Fundamentals
  • Dangerous Goods Training (Ocean or ADR)

Optional / Regional Additions (if applicable):

  • IATA / FIATA Certification
  • Air/Ocean LATAM Training
  • Customs Broker License
  • Insurance Specialist Course

Management Training (minimum 2 courses required):

  • Improving Training: The Facilitation Course
  • Forecasting Performance: The Interviewers Course
  • Manager’s Awareness Course
  • Assessing Employee Performance
  • Negotiations: In Search of Mutual Benefits
  • The Presentations Course
  • Fierce Conversations Training

Required Qualifications & Attributes

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • One to two years of relevant experience (preferred)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities
  • Comfortable working under pressure and independently
  • Strong computer literacy (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written)
  • Willingness to travel and/or relocate (if applicable)
  • A proactive, “can-do” mindset with a team-oriented attitude
  • Open to feedback, with a humble yet driven personality
  • Willingness to go beyond the 9-to-5 mentality
