Job Description

To ensure that Transcon customers are served from/in the managing branch; To support the Transcon manager in the smooth running of the department within the branch through focus on Operations, Finances, Sales, People, Systems, and Culture in adherence to the company’s policy and procedures.  

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure smooth and timely freight process flow
  • Coordinate and negotiate rates with our contracted vendors
  • Ensure accurate and timely client and vendor billing
  • Interact with customers in arranging their shipments to meet customers service standards
  • Contribute and maintain good relationship with suppliers
  • Meet compliance at all times
  • Network communications, timely responses to emails and requests
  • Work with team to meet KPI standards in accordance with Company procedures
  • Assist in retention calls and complete customer reviews?
  • Ensure company credit procedures are followed and utilized effectively
  • Participate to the transition of new business / update to existing business
  • Review and support with day-to-day quotations 
  • Allocate workloads within team to ensure smooth operations during peak activity or staff absence 
  • Monitor workboards to ensure internal KPI’s are met e.g. timely data entry 
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, service providers and the Expeditors network. 
  • Assist in retention calls and complete customer reviews with your regular customers to document in the CRM 
  • Monitor invoicing and BNP report where needed 
  • Proactively communicate with the team to ensure continuous awareness and understanding of policies and regulations  
  • Be a guide for the team - mentor agents, lead agents and ensure that positive attitude is maintained within the team 
  • Be continuously open and positive to implementing new system changes and enhancements with the team 
  • Oversee and ensure compliance with Expeditors Operational Process Standards 
  • Assist the Manager with EPE’s on the department in line with the 3+1 Initiative.   
  • Assist the Manager with key staff with goal setting and monitoring development.  
  • Audits all new accounts and follow up on responsibilities of agents to ensure that customer needs have been met.  
  • Support the manager and or sales department where needed.  
  • Other tasks/duties as deemed appropriate by your management team. 

Qualifications

  • 4 years of industry specific knowledge 
  • White Glove, LTL, and FTL experience preferred
  • Inventory management and accounting knowledge 
  • Self-reflecting and open to feedback 
  • Proven leadership attitude and background 
  • Effective interpersonal skills, including proven abilities to listen, comprehend, effectively communicate clearly and concisely to obtain positive results. 
  • Good computer skills (e.g., MS Excel, MS Word) 
  • High School Degree or equivalent required 
  • Passed background check 
  • Must be 18 years of age or older 
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States 
  • Must not require future sponsorship for employment Visa 
  • Must have the ability to work overtime in support of department needs 
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal 
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize throughout the workday while remaining focused and organized 
  • Demonstrated ability to be pro-active in thought and action 
  • Strong organization skills 
  • Analytical with strong attention to detail 
  • Effective interpersonal skills, including proven ability to listen, comprehend, effectively communicate clearly and concisely to obtain positive results 
  • Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment 
  • Willing to pitch in and help on last minute projects or assist team members 
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. 
  • Comfortable with numbers and basic mathematical skills 
  • Has a demonstrated strong work ethic, and reliability 
  • Comfortable working in a professional business environment 
  • Must be able to commute to the different MKE buildings as needed.
