Job Description
The CIS Functional team is responsible for managing Expeditors Connected and Intelligent Solutions essential infrastructure. This infrastructure provides Expeditors the global connectivity, compute power, and storage to meet its growing demand to move freight. The Linux Systems Administrator is responsible for the support, troubleshooting, installation, patching and deployment of Linux based systems in a VMware environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Deploy configure and maintain CIS Functional teams Linux servers in a VMWare environment.
- Provides production support for servers and data storage including after-hours on-call support
- Diagnose and isolate operating system, server-side networking, and application-related problems
- Monitor server capacity and performance recommending solutions for improvement
- Utilizing Infrastructure as Code best practices, develop, maintain, and enhance systems using Python, Powershell and bash
- Create documentation and training material; provide training to others
- Advocate DevSecOps culture and delivery methods
- Play a key role on a collaborative project team, responsible for the design and production of mission critical, enterprise-scale systems
- Assist with estimating work efforts and story pointing required for each phase of an agile project
- Experience with Agile software development methodologies
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Five years + Linux Systems Administration experience
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Experience with automation frameworks & extensive programming/scripting experience (bash, C, Python)
- An aptitude for methodical and comprehensive troubleshooting
- Knowledge of OS performance monitoring tools
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Redhat certification is a plus
- Experience with Ansible Playbooks, Chef Recipes or other CI/CD applications
- Experience with server clustering technologies
- Practiced in designing and implementing business continuity/disaster recovery and high availability plans.
