Job Description
Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities may include assisting with interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Create and perform timely Employee Reviews for all members of team
- Establishing and Mentoring a Number 2 who is capable of being a Supervisor
- Train, Develop and Mentor all team members
- Daily Review of Workflow
- Carry out daily team huddles to review KPIs, Volumes and outstanding issues
- Ensure staff is meeting company required goals
- Continuous personal education of Ocean and Industry
- Ensure financial welfare of team and department
- Control Expenses and Manage Overtime for the team
- Ensure Company credit policy is followed
- Manage outstanding “OPS” Accounting issues for team and ensure they are closed out in a timely manner
- Identify Process Discrepancies and implement corrective actions (Mapping out process)
- Oversee Workflow distribution for team
- Proactively approach customers ways of enhancing their experience with Expeditors
- Aid in transition and implement of new accounts to appropriate team members
- Ensure all processes are executed within in accordance with the OPS manual
- Ensure processes are documented and communicated to relevant parties (DLSOPs, Process Maps, etc)
- Monitor and Maintain Departmental KPIs
- Work with team to understand the KPI’s and identify where team or operator is failing to meet expectations and implement corrective actions or remove bottlenecks to accomplish the departmental goals.
- Manage all personnel vacations, sick time, cross training and ensure there is appropriate coverage
- Manage the accounting discrepancy database
Qualifications
- Must have a minimum of 5 years experience or team lead experience or be a graduate of the Management Trainee Program.
- Must be able to type accurately, follow written and oral directions, and have attention to
- Excel and email programs is essential. Must be able to classify HTS codes and have specific commodity expertise.
Education:
Associate degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or minimum five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
