Job Description

The Software Infrastructure groupis comprised of three teams; Development& Deployment Services, Enterprise Monitoring, and Events Messaging Services. Together, we are responsible for supporting criticaltools used by over 1,000 IT staffto develop, deploy and maintain Expeditors'logistics systems. We supportdatabases (DB2, MongoDB, PostgreSQL), messaging (Kafka, JMS), monitoring (Elastic, Opsview), and deployment (Kubernetes, Rancher, Gitlab, Chef, Jenkins, Mattermost)tools.

This role offers the ability to influence a wide range of technologies as it represents two separate teams, the Enterprise Monitoring team and the Events Messaging Services teamwhichoversees the Messaging and Database spaces. The Product Owner is a key member of both agile teams and is responsible forcrafting stories, prioritizing the team backlog, syncing with other product owners, and passing relevant information back to the team. They also serve as the customer proxy and are responsible for working with Product Management and other stakeholders to define and prioritize stories for their team.

Additionally, the Systems Analyst works with Product Management to define and set the strategic vision of the wider Software Infrastructure department and drive outcomes. The SA has a fundamental understanding of the business and/or technical domain for which the team is responsible and communicates with senior engineering staff on detailed engineering work to ensure consistent delivery. As such, the Product Ownermust be able to give direction to development team members so that they understand how each of their individual contributions align with the program objectives and overall company vision.

The Systems Analyst must have a keen understanding thier products value propositionin order to guide the ongoing development of their product to achieve customer satisfaction. As such, this positionhas a significant role inquality control and is the only team member empowered to accept stories as done.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build, refine, and prioritize team backlog in alignment with the program vision and roadmap
  • Draft specific team objectives for each Iteration and Program Increment (PI)
  • Clearly define story acceptance criteria and accept stories into the team backlog
  • Ensure that products and associated features are completed with quality and meet the needs of customers
  • Participate in team demos, reviews, and retrospectives with an eye toward continuous improvement
  • Prepare for Program activities, including PI Planning, System Demos, Backlog Grooming, and Inspect and Adapt

This position will sit inthe greater Seattle, WA area. Candidates must be local or willing to relocate. Position reports directly to the Software InfrastructureSenior Manager.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2+ years of Project, Product or Program Management experience, or similar
  • Experience with DevSecOps, Lean, or SAFe/Agile development framework
  • Proficiency with the system development lifecycle
  • Proven interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a wide spectrum of people
  • Experienced problem solver, strong collaborator and able to provide clarity around complex technical topics
  • Assertive personality, including outcome driven leadership, bias for action and a strong self starter.
  • DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Background in systems administration, software engineering or a related discipline
  • PO/PM SAFe Certification, or willingness to obtain
  • Exposure to the Monitoring and CNCF (Cloud Native Computing Foundation) technologies
  • Exposure to messaging systems and protocols such as Kafka, JMS and AMQP.
  • Experience with relational and non-relational databases.
