The Transportation Functional Development Group is responsible for developing core business applications that enable our world-wide network to efficiently manage and transport freight via collaborative internal and customer facing systems.

As a Java Developer, you will be responsible for the design and production of our core business systems.  These systems satisfy customer and organization business requirements and provide solutions that enable the organization to achieve its goals. The developer understands business problems and opportunities and applies technical skills in the design, development and testing of data flows, applications, and systems.

The Transportation Data Pipeline (TDP) application that this team is designing is a key part of our overall system.  It bridges multiple application’s data models and maps the differences in business processes to allow our global system to function seamlessly.  This project is a part of one of our company’s key strategic initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications

• 2+ years’ experience with Java software development
• Proficient with Kafka, Kafka Stream, Spring, and SQL
• Ability to design and develop complex technical solutions
• Ensures maintainability and testability of code
• Experienced with integration and data transformation in complicated systems
• Demonstrated ability to communicate technical details to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Proven interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively
• Proficiency with the software development lifecycle, including Agile techniques and other methodologies
• Effective at navigating ambiguity and mitigating risks
• Excellent time management and organization skills
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent job-related experience

Desired Qualifications

• System Engineering experience
• Exposure and interest in CI/CD, Docker, and Kubernetes
• Experience with XML, Json, JavaScript, HTML, Microservices, and Event Driven Architecture
• Experience with IntelliJ IDE’s, Git, Maven, Nexus
• Proficient in driving technical and process improvements
• Understanding of the transportation/global logistics industry
