This program is designed to provide successful individuals with an opportunity to learn our systems, products, and services in a holistic manner. The goal of the program is to build a foundational level of tactical knowledge that can be applied to support operations across the enterprise.

Successful Individuals in the MT program will spend a year learning the fundamental aspects of what works to make Expeditors the global leader in logistics and supply chain management. Through the program, MTs gain critical on-the-job experience while learning basic management and organizational skills.

Job Description

The Management Trainee Program is designed to give an overview of all of the products and services that Expeditors offers and to provide the trainee with the experience needed to continue his/her career at Expeditors in any number of exciting positions within a branch from operational to supervisory roles. The program involves not only the operations of each department, but also the finance, sales, retention and managerial aspects of every product and service. A candidate for this program must be self-motivated, hard working, capable of working with limited supervision, and willing to travel during the program.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Participate in Management Trainee orientation
  • Complete a monthly recap of activities
  • Update the Management Trainee Database
  • Learn, understand and epitomize Expeditors culture
  • Set an example of excellence in every under taking
  • Fulfill full-time employee training requirements
  • Complete all relevant training as listed on each department’s development map
  • Complete management development training
  • Track the progress of training in each department
  • Complete all relevant certifications
  • Understand and assist with the operations of each department
  • Understand the management processes used within in each department
  • Assist with the responsibilities and duties of the supervisor(s) of each department
  • Understand and work with the operational and financial reporting used by each department
  • Assist Department Managers in meeting productivity and expense-to-revenue goals within budgetary guidelines
  • Complete at least 2 projects during the program
  • Attend all department, sales, branch, accounting and management meetings
  • Attend at least 2 product specific sales or retention calls per department
  • Understand the sales and retention programs for each department 
  • Learn how to supervise and mentor employees
  • Develop interpersonal communication and management skills

 

Certifications / Courses Required:

During your training there will be many courses and certifications you are required to complete as a Manager Trainee. You will only have to take the courses that are available in your country/region. This will be in addition to all Expeditors employee, and department training. Additional requirements may be added.
