Job Description

The primary role of the Business Development Manager is to prospect for new clients by networking, cold calling, advertising or other means of generating interest from potential clients.   They must develop a rapport with new clients and set targets for sales and provide support that will continually improve the relationship.   They will be required to grow and retain existing accounts by presenting new solutions and services to clients.   This position will require the Business Development Manager to work with mid and senior level management.   Strategic planning is a key part of this job description since it is the manager's responsibility to develop pipelines of new business coming into the company.  This position requires a thorough knowledge of the market, the solutions and services the company and it's competitors. 

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and qualify potential new customers in the assigned sales territory and turn this into increased business for the company.   Develop and maintain relationships to achieve or exceed revenue goals.
  • Cold call as appropriate within your market to ensure a robust pipeline of opportunities. 
  • Generate and manage short term and long term leads from internal and external referral sources to qualify prospects and advance them through the sales process.
  • Set up meetings between client decision makers.
  • Plan approaches and pitches.  Work with the team to develop proposals that speak to the client's needs, concerns and objectives.
  • Manage marketing data using applicable sales management systems and tools to maximize efficiency and analyze data/marketing activity on a weekly basis.
  • Effectively present and discuss the services of the company to prospective clients in a way that conveys an image of quality, integrity and superior understanding and delivery of customer needs.
  • Be familiar with the local marketplace and trends and develop strategic sales plan that identifies prospects and customers.



Qualifications

  • A proven sales hunter and closer
  • Track record of sales excellence
  • Articulate and persuasive oral and written communication skills (English required, Spanish a plus)
  • Must be able to work independently in fast pace, rapid change environment.
  • Software sales (CRM) experience preferred
  • Excellent negotiator with ability to persuade, motivate and influence


Additional Information

Bachelor Degree required

3+ yeas experience in the Cargo/Freight Forwarding Industry

3+ years experience in outside sales
