Job Description
Position: Functional Data Support Specialist
Working Location: Bangalore - India
Work Mode: Hybrid model
Shift timings: 8.00 AM to 5.00 PM OR 12.00 PM to 9.00 PM IST.
SUMMARY OF POSITION AND OBJECTIVES:
Functional Support & Business Advisory
- Provide Level 2 functional support for eBIS, LabPM and reporting solutions.
- Analyze issues, perform root-cause investigations, and coordinate with technical teams when required.
- Advise business teams on local configuration setup, maintenance, and best practices.
- Support user adoption and promote data quality and process compliance.
Change & Configuration Management
- Assess, coordinate, and support the implementation of functional changes.
- Ensure local configurations remain aligned with global standards and business requirements.
- Act as a liaison between business stakeholders, Product teams, and technical teams.
Functional Validation & Release Readiness
- Plan and execute functional testing for projects, deployments, and releases.
- Perform regression, data validation, and post-release sanity testing.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen, standardize, and automate testing activities.
Knowledge Management & User Enablement
- Deliver user training and support onboarding activities.
- Create, maintain, and continuously improve functional documentation, training materials, and knowledge articles.
- Promote knowledge sharing and user self-sufficiency across the organization.
Technical Skills required:
- SQL (query writing, data analysis and troubleshooting)
- Data validation, reconciliation and root-cause analysis
- Understanding of relational databases and data models
- Functional testing and test case management
- Ticketing and service management tools (e.g. ServiceNow, Jira)
- Ability to translate business requirements into functional specifications and vice versa
Nice to have:
- Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) knowledge
- Laboratory processes knowledge
- Experience with reporting and BI tools (Power BI or equivalent)
- ETL / Data integration concepts
- Azure DevOps or similar ALM tools
- Understanding of Master Data Management and Data Governance principles
Methodology & Collaboration Skills
- Experience working in Agile environments and cross-functional teams.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with business, laboratory, infrastructure, and development teams.
- Analytical, solution-oriented, problem solving and proactive mindset.
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to work in a complex international environment.
- Fluent in English with strong verbal and written communication skills.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Minimum 4-5 years’ experience as functional analyst / business analyst / data analyst
PREFERED CANDIDATES:
- The successful candidate will have a self-motivated, get-it-done attitude; the ability to think critically; enjoy working with teams spread globally and across cultures; a desire to learn in new areas; and the discipline to pay attention to deadlines, details and quality.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills to interact with team in Europe
Qualifications
BE Computer Science/MCA or any other Bachelor’s degree with the right experience
