Job Description

  • Develop, optimize, validate, and transfer biochemistry analytical methods onto automated platforms to support analysis, monitoring and characterization of samples used in developing and scaling  downstream processes for biological therapeutic treatments
  • Maintain and troubleshoot automation software and repositories, including instrument updates and configuration changes.
  • Integrate new instruments into automated workflows and support method rollout (validation and handoff documentation as needed).
  • Provide Hamilton and Tecan liquid-handler scripting and mechanical support, including response to instrument “crash” incidents.
  • Develop automation scripts and workflow expansions, including partner workcell support.
  • Expand data visualization and reporting (dashboards/Power BI), including stakeholder intake and dashboard development.
  • Implement non-critical script enhancements to strengthen metrics, forecasting, and auditability.
  • Expand non-standard automation capabilities to support broader requests and increase assay coverage beyond highest-priority targets.
  • Support on-site 3D printing activity for site/department users.
  • Perform biochemistry methods including UPLC/HPLC (size-exclusion, hydrophobic, ion-exchange, affinity), immunoassays (Gyrolab), CGE and SDS-PAGE to support the quantification and characterization of protein purification processes.
  • Maintain written records (electronic lab notebooks and databases) of all experimental work in accordance with Good Laboratory Practices
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and cross-functional partners, proactively communicating issues, discussing prioritization, and seeking guidance when needed.

Qualifications

The Ideal Candidate would possess:

  • A minimum of 2 years experience scripting TECAN and/or Hamilton automated liquid handlers
  • Software development proficiency (Python and SQL preferred), including scripting, debugging, and working with version control.
  • Demonstrated experience  conducting biochemical methods, preferably on Agilent systems and with a working knowledge of Empower software to perform capture and data analysis (example: chromatographic, spectroscopic and other detection techniques to characterize and monitor protein purification process)
  • Experience with 3D printing.
  • Working knowledge of electronic laboratory notebooks.
  • The successful candidate must have strong organizational skills, good lab safety awareness and effective oral and written communication skills
  • Applicants should be self-motivated, organized, capable of working independently, and in a collaborative environment

Basic Minimum Qualifications:

  • B.S. in computer science, chemistry, biology, engineering, or equivalent with a minimum of 3  years of relevant work experience.
  • Authorization to work in the country indefinitely without sponsorship

Position is full-time, Mon-Fri 8am-4pm. Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of Bothell, WA are encouraged to apply.
