Job Description

We are seeking a Formulations Scientist – Group Leader to join our Formulations team in Boston, MA. This role combines hands‑on analytical chemistry and formulation support for RNA–lipid nanoparticle (LNP) development with technical and people leadership responsibilities.

The ideal candidate enjoys working at the bench while also mentoring others, supporting operational excellence, and contributing to a positive, high‑performing team environment.

Key Responsibilities

Scientific & Technical Responsibilities

  • Perform and support experiments in accordance with established protocols, methods, and procedures
  • Analyze RNA–lipid nanoparticles using a variety of analytical techniques and instrumentation, including:
    HPLC, SoloVPE, MFI, AKTA, DLS, HI‑AC, and viscosity measurements
  • Support protein and buffer formulation activities as needed
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation using an electronic laboratory notebook
  • Follow GLP, safety guidelines, and documentation best practices
  • Assist with maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient laboratory environment

Leadership & Team Responsibilities

  • Support, monitor, and coach the performance of assigned team members
  • Assist with onboarding, training, and ongoing development of new employees
  • Participate in interviews and hiring activities as needed
  • Communicate administrative and operational updates to the team
  • Promote Eurofins’ vision, values, and quality standards
  • Ensure adequate coverage, productivity, and consistency across assigned shifts and duties
  • Balance hands‑on laboratory work with leadership and administrative responsibilities
  • Foster collaboration, morale, and accountability within the team

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Education & Experience
    • B.S. in biological or biochemical sciences (or related field) with 3–4 years of relevant laboratory experience, or
    • M.S. in biological or biochemical sciences (or related field) with 1–2 years of relevant laboratory experience
  • Experience in formulation, analytical, or process development of genetic modalities (e.g., siRNA, mRNA, RNA‑LNP)
  • Demonstrated proficiency in chromatography and separation techniques, including hands‑on HPLC experience
  • Prior leadership experience with the ability to train and mentor team members
  • Strong organizational, time‑management, communication, and teamwork skills
  • Proven troubleshooting abilities and a continuous improvement mindset
  • Ability to design experiments, interpret data, follow SOPs, and maintain accurate records
  • Self‑motivated, adaptable, and comfortable working both independently and within a matrixed team

Preferred Qualifications

  • In vitro or cellular assay experience
  • Experience working with traditional biologics (e.g., peptides, monoclonal antibodies)
  • Experience with direct people management
  • Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
