Job Description
The Laboratory Equipment Support Technician plays a vital role in keeping laboratory operations running smoothly. Serving as the primary point of contact for routine equipment care, this role ensures critical instruments are clean, maintained, and readily available to support daily testing activities.
The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced lab environment while working closely with scientists and technical teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the main point of contact for routine laboratory equipment support and maintenance
- Perform scheduled incubator water refills to ensure consistent performance
- Coordinate and carry out annual disinfection of incubators and biosafety cabinets
- Conduct monthly freezer de-icing and support annual freezer defrosts
- Communicate proactively with laboratory scientists to schedule maintenance with minimal disruption to testing
- Support additional laboratory or equipment-related tasks as needed
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree with 3–5 years of relevant lab experience, or
- High school diploma with 5–7 years of experience in an academic, biotech, or pharmaceutical laboratory
- Proven experience with laboratory equipment maintenance
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively across teams
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely without sponsorship
Additional Information
The position is onsite, full-time, first shift, Monday through Friday. Candidates must be flexible to adapt to schedule changes requiring shift changes and/or weekend work, and overtime may be required as needed. Candidates living within a commutable distance of Cambridge, MA, are encouraged to apply.
