Job Description

Please note this is a 12 Month Fixed Term Contract ending April 2027.

Working hours are Monday - Friday, 08:00 - 16:30.

Job Responsibilities

  • Support Product Development activities to ensure the successful delivery of drug projects spanning all phases of development for Oral Solid Dosage and/or Parenteral products.
  • Product Development project delivery support and delivering against the product development strategy.
  • Generate experimental data to support development decisions and regulatory documentation.
  • Practical support for small scale manufacturing of development drug product batches, including planning, execution (including set up and clean down) and writing up of lab work. Examples may include roller compaction, blending, tablet compression, coating, encapsulation as well as delivering clean manufacturing of non-GMP parenteral products e.g. pre-filled syringes, supporting in-use stability activities, and lyophilization.)
  • Writing lab reports, accurate and timely data reporting and analysis.
  • Product and Materials characterization support (including techniques such tablet characterization, Particle Size Analysis, powder flow, and bulk properties of parenteral formulations such as solubility in processing aids, osmolality and viscosity, analysis of lyophiles, rheology and polymer characterization).
  • Ensure uniformity, reproducibility, and reliability in all work practices.
  • Identify any opportunities for improvement of quality and service and work with the wider team to implement continuous improvement.
  • Interpretation of data and contributing to writing internal development protocols and reports.
  • Supporting design, prototype and scale up of drug product formulations and manufacturing processes.
  • Provide technical support to downstream activities, including product control strategy, technology transfer and launch, and relevant protocols and reports.
  • Equipment and instrumentation ownership, assisting with the maintenance, upkeep and calibration.
  • SHE responsibilities (such as risk assessments) and lab ownership.

Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level in Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Sciences or another relevant field, or have significant  experience in pharmaceutical sciences in Product Development.
  • An understanding of how to develop and manufacture a range of standard oral and parenteral formulations would be desirable.
  • Strong practical laboratory and relevant analytical skills is required.
  • Ability to problem-solve and troubleshoot is essential.
  • Collaborative, networking and interpersonal skills.
  • Good oral and written communication skills is essential.
  • Able to document work clearly and concisely, as well as understand and describe data / findings importance to others.
  • Ability to work safely and comply with key quality systems to ensure data integrity.
  • Good organisational and planning skills, and an ability to deliver to agreed time and quality.
  • Passionate about quality and customer service.
