Job Description
Entrepreneurial business leader and single point of accountability for strategic client portfolios across Eurofins Medical Device Services. This role bridges Business Development and Operations across Medical Device Services (testing and consulting) to translate client objectives into executable programs, grow accounts, and protect margin. The Client Portfolio Manager (CPM) effectively leverages and directs Project Managers (PMs) to ensure operational excellence, driving organized execution and maximizing value across projects. The Client Portfolio Manager (CPM) views ambiguity as opportunity to create comprehensive solutions, maintaining a relentless focus on customer outcomes and Eurofins’ success metrics.
Success in this role requires strategic vision, the ability to align cross-functional teams, and the drive to deliver measurable value to both clients and the business.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Account Leadership
- Build multi-year account plans; map stakeholders/influence; coordinate executive touchpoints.
- Expand Eurofins’ footprint across SBUs (packaging, sterilization, chemistry/materials, microbiology; regulatory/quality consulting) by recognizing “value add” opportunities for clients..
- Shape commercial strategy with BD/Finance (pricing, bundling, service packaging).
- Program & Portfolio Management
- Lead initiation, planning, execution, monitoring/control, and closeout for assigned projects and studies.
- Serve as primary communication link between clients and laboratory/consulting operations; interpret technical information for cross-functional teams.
- Create and maintain portfolio/project tracking tools, RACI, timelines, risk logs, and action registers; drive follow-through and accountability.
- Work with lab & consulting operations to initiate, plan/organize, and monitor/control study activities per awarded scope.
- Delivery Governance & Quality
- Establish cadences and KPIs; monitor scope, schedule, risk, cost, and quality; ensure contractual compliance.
- Manage documentation: protocols, methods, change orders, meeting agendas/minutes, and all client deliverables.
- Organize/facilitate client visits and audits; present status and plans in client meetings.
- Escalate issues promptly to both Eurofins and client leadership when services/projects deviate from expectations.
- Financial & Backlog Management
- Protect and improve gross margin through scope discipline, forecasting, and proactive risk/issue management.
- Track financials: FTE utilization, purchase orders, invoices, accruals; maintain healthy backlog and convert pipeline to revenue.
- Capture and share lessons learned to prevent recurrence of negative outcomes and scale best practices.
- Customer Outcomes & Growth Enablement
- Manage client expectations; provide regular project and financial updates; collect feedback and translate into action.
- Support BD in bids/SOWs/defense; onboard new opportunities for successful delivery handoff.
- Drive cross-sell/upsell and expand services within strategic accounts; champion continuous improvement.
- Process, Tools, and Scaling
- Recognize ambiguity and design the standards (playbooks, templates, dashboards) that remove it.
- Leverage CRM/PSA/LIMS and BI tools (e.g., Microsoft CRM, PSA, eLIMS, Power BI) to enable visibility, forecasting, and decision-making.
Success Metrics (KPIs)
- Portfolio revenue growth, expansion rate, renewals
- Gross margin vs. target; variance to plan
- Utilization and capacity alignment across SBUs
- On-time delivery / milestone attainment
- Backlog health (book-to-bill, forecast accuracy)
- Client satisfaction (surveys/NPS), audit outcomes
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree required (Engineering, Business, or Life Sciences); Master’s preferred.
- Experience: 10+ years in the medical device industry leading complex, multi-discipline programs; consulting and account management experience preferred.
- Program Management: Advanced PM skills across planning/execution/governance; PMP preferred.
- Business Leadership: Proven P&L awareness, pricing/packaging familiarity, and commercial partnering with Sales/Finance.
- Regulatory/Quality Fluency: Working knowledge of relevant frameworks and standards (e.g., ISO 13485/14971/10993, 11607, 11135/11737, 21 CFR 820).
