Job Description
Eurofins Food Testing is a division of the broader Eurofins Scientific Inc. We are the leader in food, feed, and supplement testing, support, and development services. We partner with suppliers, processors, manufacturers, packers, distributors, and retailers. Few testing laboratories can combine the level of expertise, technological leadership, attention to quality and customer service that have made Eurofins the global leader in our space. Significant investments in innovation, technology, IT and logistics. We are currently seeking a Director of our IT Solutions team. Reporting to the Vice President of IT Solutions, key responsibilities include:
• Lead the implementation of software projects, managing internal and subcontracted teams to meet timelines and ensure successful launches.
• Supervise, manage and mentor software developers to complete tasks in an efficient and timely manner.
• Develop and enforce best practice coding standards, utilize lower environments for appropriate testing to catch errors before they are promoted to production.
• Lead and oversee business IT change management processes to ensure structured, risk-aware implementation of technology changes with minimal disruption to business operations.
• Direct and coordinate incident response efforts, ensuring timely identification, containment, and resolution of IT service disruptions while maintaining clear communication with stakeholders.
• Champion root cause analysis initiatives to identify underlying issues behind recurring incidents, implement corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement in system reliability and performance.
• Analyzes complex business needs presented by the user community and/or clients and recommends technical solutions.
• Ensures the consistency and maintainability of existing technology systems by creating, maintaining, and enforcing standards/procedures for implementing technical solutions.
• Directs, prioritizes and assists with the workload of staff.
• Reviews all designs, code, and unit test plans where applicable.
• Approves all business requirements prior to the technical solution. Participates on hardware and software evaluations and maintains vendor contracts.
• Directs education programs for IT staff.
• Coordinate between users, operations, and programming teams for systems design, modifications, and troubleshooting.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate would possess:
Technical Expertise
• Deep understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC), agile methodologies, and DevOps practices
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, Google Cloud) and modern integration technologies (e.g., APIs, microservices)
• Strong grasp of application security, compliance, and data governance principles
Strategic & Operational Skills
• Ability to align application strategy with business goals and drive innovation
• Experience in IT change management, incident response, and root cause analysis to ensure system stability and resilience
Leadership & Communication
• Exceptional leadership and team-building skills with the ability to inspire and develop high-performing teams
• Strong stakeholder management and communication abilities, including translating technical concepts for non-technical audiences
• Demonstrated success in cross-functional collaboration and influencing executive decision-making
Basic Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (Master’s preferred)
• 10+ years of progressive experience in IT, with at least 5 years in a leadership role overseeing application development and support
• Proven track record managing enterprise application portfolios, digital transformation initiatives, or large-scale software implementations
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitude
• Availability after hours for business outages and ability to coordinate resources to restore services to laboratories.
• Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies
• Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
Position is full-time, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., with overtime as needed. Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of Des Moines, IA are encouraged to apply.
