Job Description

Job Summary

The SST Technician I shall assist other SST Laboratory personnel in general lab duties.   The SST Technician I shall be responsible for ensuring quality and accurate data in a timely fashion.

Responsibilities and Duties

General:

  • Work cooperatively.                                          
  • Communicate effectively.                                
  • Clean equipment and area.                               
  • General laboratory maintenance.                                    
  • Sample preparation.
  • Sample planting and preparation for planting.
  • Sample evaluation.
  • TZ Test preparation.
  • Data entry.

Specific:

  • Responsible for knowing daily goals and meeting those goals for the day.
  • Performs tasks as defined by professional staff.
  • Communicate sample issues effectively to SST Associate Scientists and SST Lab Supervisors.
  • Communicate personnel issues effectively to SST Manager Scientific.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must have authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
  • Must be located in commutable distance to River Falls, WI.  Must work on site at 507 Highland Drive, River Falls, WI 54022.  Relocation, if required, is at employee expense
  • Must have good attention to detail, ability to effectively work in a team environment
  • Must have good verbal and written communication skills
  • Mus have working knowledge of Microsoft Office and the ability to learn to use lab specific hardware and software as needed
  • Must be accepting of starting pay at $15.25 for part time employment
  • Must be available to work at least 3 4+-hour blocks of time (12 hours or more) during the hours of 8:00-4:30 M-F.

Education:

  • HS degree recommended.

Skills:

  • Attention to detail

  • Mental addition and subtraction
  • Computer operation, including email and LIMS

Additional Information

Schedule:

  • 8:00-4:30 Monday-Friday, Weekends available.  Flexible hours with minimum of 3 4-hour time blocks per week
