The GTS Department is dedicated to supporting ELISA/HB planting, harvesting, extraction, and testing; DNA QA grinding, plating, and testing; MBGT planting, plating and testing; Electrophoresis planting, plating, extraction and testing.

The GTS Department includes genetic purity testing using Isozyme Electrophoresis, trait purity testing using ELISA/Herbicide Bioassay testing, and adventitious presence and zygosity testing using in DNA QA using PCR.

MBGT (SNP) testing includes genetic purity, genotyping and variety verification.  SNP testing is part of the Genomics Department.

The ELISA/HB Associate Scientist is dedicated to supporting ELISA/HB planting, harvesting, extraction and testing.

Responsibilities and Duties

General:

• Communicate effectively internally and externally
• Work cooperatively
• Participate in general laboratory maintenance
• Effectively communicate sample/internal issues to Manager and/or Group Lead as appropriate
• Effectively communicate personnel issues to Manager and/ or Group Lead

Specific:

• Become proficient in all areas of HB planting/evaluating/harvesting/extraction/testing
• Assist with inventory and organization of HB reference material
• Assist with coordination/training HB seasonal staff
• Assist with sample preparation for all GTS labs as needed
• Help, support and maintain EBDI Safety program
• Help, support and maintain EBDI ISO quality system
• Ensure accurate and efficient execution of written protocols
• Other duties as needed

Education/Experience:

• HS and science aptitude

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• Assist with training of new/seasonal hires.  Guide HB evaluation staff as needed.
