Job Description
The Manager, PM Management, leads a mutually beneficial relationship with a key client with the focus of long-term collaboration. Manages a dedicated team of Project Managers and Project Manager Assistants to achieve successful project delivery across a client-specific program by mentoring and guiding the team to achieve their study deliverables and other departmental goals. This position will involve extensive mentoring, rapport building and professional development of staff with a focus on providing exceptional performance in Central Laboratory project delivery.
Program manager reports to the Senior Director, Client Services and Project Delivery
Key Accountabilities
Personnel management
- Manages assigned staff and daily activities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable regulations
- Manages team to ensure study activities are delivered on time, within budget and in established scope, overseeing corrective actions as applicable to ensure successful delivery
- Ensures assigned team delivers accurate, timely, and efficient study execution according to clinical protocol and standard operating procedures (SOP)
- Ensures assigned staff are trained and proficient in all aspects of project management
Process management
- Acts as project management process owner across client specific program implementing SOPs as needed for deviations that may be required
- Reviews and analyzes client requests for non-standard operational procedures and support implementation where leadership approval is given
- Ensures final approval of sponsor specifications at all study phases, assessing risk against organizational SOPs
- Focuses on process improvement across ECL’s scope and limitation of client specific deviation in process wherever possible
- Identifies opportunities for service enhancement and development
Client management
- Leads proactive and timely program communication to promote gold standard sponsor satisfaction and excellent customer service
- Serves as the first line in the escalation pathway, making sound judgement calls in a dynamic environment to drive project success
- Oversees financial management of program studies to ensure program budget compliance
- Manages study files within scope in accordance with organizational standards, ensuring accuracy and comprehensive detail
- Works closely with internal departments, external vendors and the sponsor to promote client needs
- Actively participates or leads external customer meetings to promote company and support existing and future business
- Meets with client team to discuss study account activities at a routine cadence (primary contact for client Vendor Management)
- Supports client training on ECL processes
- Owns and hosts Governance Meetings and provides portfolio level metrics and Key Performance Index (KPI) metrics
- Supports client and BD at bid stage by reviewing protocols and processes
- Monitors customer satisfaction
Program oversight
- Implements tracking tools and processes for benchmarking performance, including response times and task management
- Oversees portfolio KPI metrics (dashboards) and study targets
- Liaises with senior leadership for visibility of plans and operational services
Qualifications
Position Specifications and Job Requirements
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of Clinical Research industry experience preferred
- Minimum 2 Years Project Management Experience required, including line management experience preferred
- Strong understanding of Central Laboratory processes and procedures with some direct experience required
- Experience managing cross functional global teams required
- Experience managing high-profile client relationships required
Education
- Bachelor of Science in Life Sciences or related field required
- PMP Preferred
- MBA Preferred
