Job Description

Responsible for independently executing culture techniques for the creation, selection, expansion, and banking of new cell lines. The candidate will need strong organizational skills and experience with MS Excel to review and interpret large amounts of data. This position participates in planning unit operations and experiments under supervision, documenting steps in an electronic laboratory notebook, drafting support documentation (outside of lab notebooks) and summary reports.

  • Experience with cell culture techniques.
  • Prior experience with general laboratory procedures and aseptic technique.
  • Experience with robotics and high throughput methods and/or equipment will be useful, not required.
  • Works with departmental and/or cross functional peers to execute on programs, under supervision.
  • Prepares experimental protocols.
  • Contributes significantly to project work which may include multiple projects within functional area.
  • Interprets data, presents results, and contributes to technical reports.
  • Identifies complex technical issues and implements solutions under supervision.
  • Contributes to the design of new applications/experiments/unit operations in consultation with supervisor.
  • Coordinates within department as well as cross functionally with peers on projects.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • Associates degree in chemistry, biology, pharmacy, engineering or related pharmaceutical science and 3+ years relevant industry experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, pharmacy, engineering or related pharmaceutical science; 1+ years relevant industry experience
  • Masters degree in chemistry, biology, pharmacy, engineering or related pharmaceutical science; 0+ years relevant industry experience
  • Some laboratory training (e.g. academic) preferred

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Analytical and Problem Solving Skills -Able to troubleshoot critical issues or problems and resolve routine issues using appropriate information.
  • Teamwork -- Ability to work within department groups/team.
  • Communication Skills - Expresses one’s self clearly and concisely within function; documents issues and/or concerns concisely with colleagues; timely and effectively communicates issues to supervisor, ability to clearly present results during meetings
  • Organization – Exercises good time management skills
  • Technical - Proficient in use of applicable lab equipment and operations
