Job Description

To provide technical oversight for the development and implementation of hematology assays and protocols used in the hematology laboratory, ensuring timely execution of all deliverables and enabling the seamless and accurate execution of laboratory analysis.

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide technical leadership and serve as the technical resource for all hematology laboratory technologists and technicians with regards to the performance and interpretation of new and ongoing assays.
  • Review clinical protocols and lead the development of lab protocols for studies and provide technical guidance to Eurofins Project Management group as well as sponsors as needed.
  • Work with IT and Data Management in priming hematology studies.
  • Work with the Management to develop SOPs, method validations, workflow processes, data review, reporting templates, and QC processes.
  • Train hematology lab staff on various equipment and manual processes, proper QC/PT.
  • Provide laboratory testing support to include any of the following as needed:
  • Conduct laboratory testing according to established protocols of assigned department.
  • Ensure the prompt, efficient and accurate performance of laboratory test results.
  • Assure proficiency testing is completed and submitted in timely fashion.
  • Perform quality control of equipment and procedures within established guidelines and performing routine equipment preventative maintenance and repairs.
  • Process specimens according to established protocols.
  • Provide support of all laboratory functions including inventory of reagents, stocking of reagents, general housecleaning, and safety.
  • Comply with requirements of Good Clinical Practice (GCP), the College of American Pathologists (CAP) and Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA).
  • Perform duties as assigned.
  • Train other laboratory technologists and personnel.
  • Assist in performing competency assessments of other technologists and personnel.
  • Assist manager in ensuring training files are complete and up to date.
  • Assist manager in ensuring competency assessments are performed according to established protocols and up to date on all laboratory employees.
  • Assist manager in ensuring all proficiency testing is performed on all analytes tested by the laboratory.
  • Review and release results to clients.
  • Assist manager in making sure that all QC data is acceptable and technologists are following established QC protocols.

Qualifications

Basic Minimum Requirements: 

  • Minimum 5 years of working experience in a clinical or research laboratory.
  • Minimum, Bachelor of Science in Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology or Medical Technology.
  • Certification by ASCP, NCA, or AMT for Hematology
  • Authorized to work in the US for any employer, indefinitely, without sponsorship.
