Job Description

The Central IT Operations team inside Eurofins is responsible for maintaining centrally provided IT services (in this case Active Directory and any directly service for the delivery) in collaboration with other IT teams and according to defined processes (e.g. Incident Management and Change Management).

The Active Directory engineer provides support and implementation services for Microsoft Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, Azure Active Directory Domain Service and Windows-based systems across the enterprise, including directory and identity management solutions.

Resolves and appropriately completes assigned cases and change requests and acts as an escalation for support issues. Applies new solutions through research and collaboration with team and Managed Service providers to determine course of action for new application initiatives. Implements new software solutions as required by the business.

The Focus of the AD Engineer includes:

  1. Operating IT services provided from centrally hosted in either the cloud or strategic Data Centres.
  2. Ensure that IT Services managed by the Central IT Operations team are delivered effectively to business customers. This includes the execution of SOPs and standard best practices, management of IT Incidents, IT Changes and IT Problems in ITSM based system on the related processes, procedures and work instructions.
  3. Operate and install on Enterprise-level Infrastructure for providing Microsoft services, such as AD, for global initiatives following those through to implementation via collaboration with project and support teams;
  4. Identify opportunities to innovate, extend and enhance service delivery everywhere possible;
  5. ITIL approach to resolve technical problems. Troubleshoot occurring issues, investigating root causes and supporting resolution of the issues found;
  6. Serves as escalation point for application support and troubleshooting, provides guidance and direction in resolution of escalated issues and/or complex production, application or system problems;
  7. Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all involved infrastructure elements server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs and verifying completion of scheduled jobs. Ensure that the performance, scalability, and security is maintained and optimized;
  8. Deliver quality documentation allowing for smooth day-to-day operations;
  9. Improve existing processes through sustainable solutions to recurring problems and enhancements to existing solutions or documentation by automation;
  10. Contributes to the development of new ideas and methods. Works on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of multiple factors
  11. Contact to vendor technical support for Priority 1 incidents;
  12. Strong cooperation, communication, knowledge transfer and support within team members;
  13. Cooperate closely with the rest of IT Infrastructure & Operations, Architecture and Security teams.
  14. Exceptional interpersonal skills, including teamwork, facilitation, and negotiation
  15. Root Cause Analysis and Problem Management for corporate Identity Management environment.
  16. Participate in testing and verification of technical solutions

Qualifications

  • Administer the Active Directory forest and domains contained.
    • Domain maintenance, performance and security monitoring and general capacity planning
    • Familiarity with enterprise multi-forest Infrastructure models
    • Troubleshooting & Manage Active Directory related incidents and escalate to manufacturer when needed
    • Ability to design, implement, and troubleshoot Directory Synchronization and Federation Services for Azure AD
    • Group Policy design, maintenance and consolidation (monolithic GPO plan)
    • Operate the AD environment with best practices for capacity, redundancy and performance
    • Authentication protocols (Kerberos, certificate based, etc.)
  • DDNS
    • Design, maintenance and troubleshooting of DNS AD integrated servers
    • Plan & Maintain internal and external naming resolution for the organization
    • Integration with IPAM
  • AD Federation Services (SAML & oAuth)
  • DFS
    • Domain DFS maintenance and troubleshooting
    • Namespaces planning, administration and troubleshooting
  • Azure Active Directory
  • Desired State Configuration (DSC).
    • Support, maintain and extend Configuration As A Code.
    • Review, write and deploy configurations
    • Azure Desired State
  • Powershell
    • Able to manage windows server & AD using powershell
    • Automate repetitive tasks with PowerShell scripting
    • Read and understand Powershell code
  • Patch Management
  • Assists in projects by mapping changes, improve and analyze changes, introduce plan to be decided upon;
  • Implement Standard Changes related to infrastructure as per procedure and standards.
  • Expert analyzing security risks with proposed changed to AD, AAD, ADFS, Domain Controllers, GPOs, etc. and providing an understandable summary of those risks to management for proper implementation decisions
  • Knowledge of third-party AD support services such as, Quest Change Auditor for AD & Symantec VIP
  • Must have a deep and thorough understanding of monitoring best practices
  • Knowledge on Role Based Access Model (RBAC)
