Transplant Genomics Inc. (“TGI”) is a molecular diagnostics company committed to improving organ transplant outcomes with non-invasive serial monitoring guided by biomarkers. TGI’s product portfolio of both individual and combined whole blood gene expression and donor derived cell-free DNA testing is capable of reliably ruling out subclinical kidney rejection and acute rejection in kidney transplant patients. In addition to kidney transplantation testing, our newest product for liver transplant patients is a blood-based biomarker assay designed to rule out rejection as immunosuppression therapy is optimized.
Job Description
The Clinical Laboratory Assistant is primarily responsible for performing duties related to specimen management, specimen storage, inventory replenishment, problem resolution, clinical laboratory cleaning duties and performing data entry processes, as needed with a high level of proficiency, in accordance with Eurofins Transplant Genomics standard operating procedures.
Essential Job Duties:
Minimum Requirements:
• Performs miscellaneous tasks throughout the lab, including laboratory cleaning, instrument maintenance, sample management, specimen storage (i.e., retrieving and returning samples from sample storage locations), laboratory supply replenishment
• Performs a variety of organizational tasks to support the daily functionality of the laboratory. Works efficiently, documents work clearly, and performs responsibilities accurately.
• Receives incoming clinical samples and demonstrates appropriate documentation. Examines samples for accuracy and other requirements (sample type, volume, etc).
• Properly store specimens for short term and long-term storage.
• Prepares specimens to be shipped and adhere to all applicable shipping requirements.
• Performs data entry into specimen tracking systems and clinical laboratory databases, as needed or assigned. Performs special projects as necessary/as directed.
• Aids the clinical laboratory personnel in performing daily, weekly and monthly laboratory cleaning duties.
• Helps technical staff, as needed, with miscellaneous support. Provides administrative support for Clinical Laboratory projects as needed.
• Works closely and communicate with other clinical laboratory associates to complete daily activities efficiently.
• Ensures that all laboratory equipment and work areas are clean, sterile, and in proper working order, prior to sample testing. Performs daily, weekly and monthly laboratory maintenance of laboratory equipment and controlled areas.
• Under the direction of the laboratory supervisor, supports the clinical laboratory inventory processes.
• Maintains quality control and quality assurance records, as required.
• Adheres to all quality and safety standards, as well as ensuring compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies.
• Represents the department and the organization favorably and in accordance with established company standards and associate attributes at all times.
• Adheres to all Eurofins Transplant Genomics data management policies and protocols.
Qualifications
Essential Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• High School diploma or equivalent required. Preferred Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree.
• Authorization to work in the Unites States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
• Minimum:
o 1 year of clinical laboratory experience highly preferred.
o Strong computer, scientific, and organizational skills.
o Excellent communication (oral and written) and attention to detail.
o Ability to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitude.
o Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with documents such as internal SOPs, operating and maintenance instructions, and company policies.
o Ability to safely work with potentially infectious human blood and body fluids utilizing all appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
o Must be comfortable with specimen handling.
o Position may require evening and weekend hours.
